Meadows..the saga continues

I'd say ADA compliant, but those ramps look really steep for wheelchairs. And I can't wait until the rocks get scattered around (it looks like they're just sitting on concrete). Or maybe they'll be used as cobbles..?

I liked how it used to be. Natural, fun to ride, with a built-in HAB for mortals.. just needed a little maintenance once in awhile. Oh well.

Can't wait to see this in person. From the photos it looks like multiple accidents waiting to happen.
First thing I thought of. Haven't they read about what happened years ago in Big Bear?
The way that slab is positioned on the hill I imagine it's going to get undercut with the first good rain.

How much did that cost??????

(Versus two times per year of throwing some dirt around)

Problem solvers in search of problems to solve and playing with money that they did not have to earn. (!!!!!!)

You know that leg and reflex warm up that you take before you drop Mentally - gone forever.

I am just going to stop typing right now to ensure that my immaturity does not surface. This is sickening.

They bulldozed Coyote Hump and installed wood and dirt stairs and I did nothing.

They dug out a ride around on Stair Steps and I did nothing.

They ripped out the bedrock of TnA and built a ride around and I did nothing.

They poured concrete on and built concrete stairs over the meadows transition and I did nothing.

.... (5 years later)....

Now I can ride my Lark on every trail, use the recharging station at the top of Willow so that I am never out of juice and REALLY enjoy the park and see lots of birds!

Well, the good news is that you did not do nothing. You and others have logged in as assertively as possible, without blowing an opportunity. The Stairway to Meadows was the City of Laguna Beach, the Coyote Hump was OC Parks, the T and A bulldozing was LCF and the Stair Steps P-Line was also LCF. We now have IMTB riders on OC Parks advisory board and LCF trails committee, for what it's worth. The City of Laguna is straight up crazy, so no chance of influence there. But luckily, they are not inclined to do much else regarding trails - I hope.

Man, this sounds grim. We're down to reminiscing about the old days when this or that trail feature existed? In some locales, land managers are approving and building more bike-specific trails. My bro in Conifer is enjoying a whole network of new trails (that connect to the CT), and more are being built in the area right now. Other parts of the country, ditto.

How did Laguna ever get to be such an epicenter of SoCal riding? Power to you all for fighting the good fight, but I'm writing off AW/LCWP. I'm glad I rode that area a bunch, including some fun trails that no longer exist, and I'm literally afraid to go back and find what's (not) there now.

There is LCF trails forum to be held on April 24th, 5.30 pm, Susi Q Community Center, 380 3rd street, laguna beach

I just got their email about this. Unfort i am travelling that day , otherwise would attend

For me it all boils down to proper signing. If it was deemed risky, then at the start of the trail it can be signed as such.

I liked the connector a lot.

I have a pretrial conference in DT LA in the afternoon, but I am going to try to make it.

I get what you're saying, but epicenter or not, for those of us who live close to the Laguna/aliso parks we don't want to write off our backyard trails, and there's (perhaps futilely) hoping we can show them public support for the good mtb trails so they will continue to exist in a challenging form.
I will attend the meeting, I'm not much of a public speaker though.

Good on you for putting your mouth where your money is, Gary (et al.).

Reminder ... For anyone interested in attending, the LCF trails forum is this evening. I'll be there, and look forward to seeing anyone else who can make it.
