McGill McGot Him Again… Mikie is Down...

Alright!
5:30pm and I finally made it home. Testing the new rig cuzz @Voodoo Tom stole my bike. Elaborate plan Tom. How “did” you plant that pedal strike rock?!?!?!

I can’t find the pedals, is this an EBike? Oh! And yes! This is next years jersey! AND... I do have my baggies on.
Thanks for getting me through today... this was a rough one! Lots of pain.

Put an electric motor on that thing....you'd be a trail ninja!!!!:p

And @Voodoo Tom - I didn't say it earlier, but yeah, you got the dude of the century award. Ain't no better friends than those you can call on whenever needed, no explanations needed. @Mikie is lucky to know you.

Are those the socks we've been waiting for?

Hey fellers,
Doped up and awake now.
Thank you for the well wishes! There may be a few mispelled words.
Was having an amazingly fun ride. Did not see it coming but had a huge pedal strike on a big rock that catapulted me off the trail and I hit a tree head on. I think the contact points was the back of my head and right shoulder blade. I must have fractured my pelvis when I hit the ground. I thought I broke my neck.

Laying there I did a quick what has feeling check and see everything worked. I thought I broke some upper ribs on the front and back but did not.

I was laying face up on the down side of the trail with my left foot locked in my pedal and excruciating pain in my right groin (the pelvic fracture). Could not move. Started getting scared.

Wiggled my cell phone out and had 3 bars. Called Cathy but she wad at Church. Called @Voodoo Tom as I know he grew up here and his Dad wad on search and rescue.

Tom made it happen as Tom ALWAYS makes it happen.

I began to panic, so I forced the bike to flip over as I screamed and cried and got unhooked from my pedal and worked my into a sitting position and just shivered and waited.
Search and Rescue guys found me first on Mountain Bikes. By this time it was pitch black.

Things get hazy here. A thousand blood pressure checks, shivers like I was in shock.
Tried to stand me but that was not going to happen based on the tight hip.

Called in the choppah! Pain IV and they loaded me in a basket. Dropped me at the Y.

Two pelvic fractures and some very bruised ribs. Was going to need surgery for internal bleeding but that id all clear now. I have to prove I can walk out of here to go home.
Keep you guys posted
Prayers for fast healing and quick return to the bike @Mikie! Glad they have you on some good meds and painkillers:thumbsup:! Way to go @Voodoo Tom to marshall the rescue team and being there for Cathy too! We'll keep the trails warm and dusty for you Mikie!

Hijacked Hightower V2.0 :Roflmao:Roflmao:Roflmao. Ok so I was just out in the garage measuring and verifying that your BB is indeed as low as mine and I noticed a GoPro mount hanging from the back of the seat. You weren't filming were you???

Braap:cool:

Tell your buddy a high quallity fish oil pill will thin his blood without the bleed out factor.

Interesting that your foot got stuck in the pedals because as we all know, that rarely happens....except when it does. The #1 reason I switched to flats was so I can bail when necessary.

Prior to his heart attack, my buddy Matt was thinking about trying flats after watching me ride Mt Wilson an do just fine. As a lifer in clipless, that amazed him. Anyway...now that he’s on blood thinners, that’s out because the learning curve with spiky pedals is potentially bloody. However, we were discussing the topic yesterday anyway and he said “I always seem to come out of my pedals just fine” and I of course said “until you don’t”. I’ll be telling him this story.

As a frequent flyer in PT, do what you’re told and don’t push too hard on the rehab.

Hey @Mikie , something has been bothering me. Where's the ride report and pictures? Isn't that what you tell everyone else?:gag:
Under the circumstances we will let you off the hook this time.
Seriously, I thought about you on my ride tonight. I think I rode a little more carefully than usual and appreciated it a bit more.
Take it easy. Hopefully we can keep you entertained while you are healing up.
Tomorrow we ride! (figuratively - soon I hope)

I took a picture kinda facing your direction.

 Your healing powers reeling through the cosmos’s!
Today I came home from the hospital, and at 4:30 pm when I was loaded in the passenger seat of the truck I could barely stand. Barely.

I just woke up at 11:00pm from finally getting some sleep in the front room recliner and painfully muscled my way to the bathroom on my walker! About 30 steps. Then muscled back!
The power of imtbtrails healing vibes! You guys got skeelz!

Doc’s called and said I’m a high risk for blood clots right now, moving is the solution...:)

Moving is the solution? Pedaling is moving, right? :whistling:;)
