Regarding inserts, just a point of consideration re: rim protection...If you install an insert and then lower the tire pressure a bit (because lower tire pressure is one of the claimed benefits), you probably shouldn't expect great rim protection. Really seems to depend on what you want to gain by using the insert - protection or better handling characteristics. Personally, experience has convinced me that you can't get both from an insert.You might want tire inserts, not sure. I don't expect a conventional alloy rear rim to last you on a bike like that.
