Man Down.......

Well, sh!t hit the fan last night.......

Went out for a quick solo B* lap. Wasnt feeling all that great....even thought about turning back early....just wasn't feeling it.

Made it to the top and turned down. pushed the pace as i usually do. All was going well til i reached the right hand hairpin at the top of the bottom ST. A little too fast....a bit too much gravel.....and before i knew it, the front end was gone.

I hit the deck fast. Road rash on my knee, elbow, cheek....but didn't hit my head/helmet. Another rider came up just behind me....i was already back on feet, but the shoulder didn't feel right. Thought perhaps i dislocated it due to the way i landed...so the other rider pulled on it a little to see if it would slip back in....it didn't. I knew it wasn't the collarbone...i know how that feels.

So i began the slow 1 handed roll down. B* is slippery sketchy right now, and only relying on front brake made it so much more. i couldnt grab the bar. The flats at the bottom sucked to pedal.

The other rider gave me a ride from the gate to the tree farm. The solo drive home was painful. Every bump, turn and stoplight caused pain. Made it home, showered snd still under the hope it was dislocated/separated, Suz pulled on it to try to reset it. Not happening.

Off to the ER we go.

Was a little concerned about being stuck in the waiting room with a bunch of covid peeps...but sine mine was as injury, they processed me quicker. Within 30 mins of getting there, i was X-rayed and they confirmed i broke the top of my humerus.....funny right?

They eventally tended to my superficial wounds and splinted me up to immobilize the break. Not much more they could do....they referred me to an Orthopedic today, but i csn't get in til Monday. It's gonna be a long weekend.

How it Should look.....

It also appears as though i may have fractured the collarbone based on the X-ray.

Will find out Monday.

So there you have it.......

:thumbsdown: Not good. Get a good Ortho for this one.
Sorry J

Sorry to hear about that. I hope it works out for you. It has been forever for me and I still do not ride very aggressive. This is why I only ride single track. Fire roads let you ride fast and those tight corners can get you. I have seen to many of those, you start your turn holding it the best you can and ever so slowly drift towards the outside. Then you realise it and turn too hard and wash out.

All I want to say I said on text or in the other thread. That totally sucks ass. Heal quickly and completely. I can swing by on my way home any evening if you need anything from delivering meals to doing your damn dishes. Don't hesitate to ask.

What hospital did you visit? If you need surgery - why didn't they do it? My last two visits, I didn't leave until I was fixed.

Oh man…Dangit J.

St Joe’s sends you home ASAP.

Dr Shepherd is the arm guy at OSI, he’s solid. Let him know you want the athlete answer not the sedentary answer. And get in for PT with Liz at SCAR as soon as the doc will allow…

they refer orthopedic injuries to OSI. I have an appointment there Monday afternoon. Apparently none of the orthopedic surgeons work on Fridays.

Just saying I got crunched on a Taco Tuesday Cinco de Mayo at about 7 pm at the beginning of the pandemic. Surgery the next day (Mission Hospital - MV). Guess it may have been different if it were a Friday?

You made it through one night (or is it two now?). Two to go. We feel for you , brother. :(
