Just when you thought humanity had already hit rock bottom...

Nothing that people do can surprise me.
The Tide Pod challenge made my jaw drop. And Im young, on the cusp of almost being a millennial. I can understand scavenging around the house and getting high on household products. But that wasn't intent with thee kids. I have a feeling when the teens of today are grown to the point where they are adults coming into the point where they are in the wings to be in control and the majority things will be interesting.

That’s nothing... I knew a kid who emptied his home AC of freon over a summer. He did not escape permanent damage to his body...

Yeah, if 10 miles away was close.
Sadly, when we were in San Diego my ex made us evacuate from our home when the fire was NO WHERE near us. She still (last time it came up) insists it was right on top of us. It would have to burn through about a billion dollars worth of neighborhoods before getting to us...but I did as I was told...

Should specify...this was 2007'ish when there were big fires down there.

Sadly...not a millennial thing. That has been occuring LONG before my time, and I am Gen X. I remember I was only single digits when I learned that adults liked to huff paint...

The cliff notes version: Scumbag YouTube channel owners with 6.7 million subscribers faked an evacuation from the Holy Fire. An evacuation from... Ladera Ranch.

Edit: For you northeners, Ladera Ranch was a good 15 miles from the closest part of the fire on Bell Ridge, and there are three other communities in between.

Wtf? I live there but was out of town during the fire. This won’t make him very welcome here.

We had to have the same conversation with the barn owner where Suz keeps the ponies...the fire was 15-20 miles away and they were stressed that they’d have to evacuate. They were nowhere near the fire, plus all the land around them burned in the Canyon 2 Fire, si there was nothing left to burn.

On Tuesday, August 7th, I went to Tree of Life Nursery (my favorite nursery for California natives) on Ortega Highway. I was the only one there. The nursery employees were laughing because they knew the fire was keeping naive people away - even though it was 10+ miles away.

Gotta love California. People miles away from the fire were running around like chickens without a head, while people with the fire in their back yards were refusing to leave :)

Not really that far away had the wind shifted. And evacuation on the Tree of Life side would be a mess, if Santa Anas's had developed and pushed it to RSM, Ladera, Rancho MV, SJC and SC.
