With the incessant barking of the neighbors' (plural neighbors) dogs, please, those of you that have them....why is this okay? What is it that prevents you owners of same from training them to shut the hell up???

Inquiring minds (and your neighbors) want to know.
I couldn't live with my own family pet shop dog! Australian shepard. Bark Master 2000 no.. Bark Master 5000! We tried so many things to make him quiet. Hell he barked at the air molecules I think just because.. all night.. every night... After a few years I finally drew the line in the sand. I told my wife "it's me or the dog!" " Don't be so quick! " she said with her hand on her hip pointing at me. It wasn't looking good for me but I eventually won out and we gave the our beloved family pet to my brother who lived nearby. Our kids could still go and visit Quigley. 1 year went by and the family says: " We want another dog. " OMG you never saw at how fast I could research I dog I could live with. Basenji's. Non barking dog. We are on our second set of male and female Basenji's. 20+ years worth. :whistling: That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Good story to go with! These animals enrich our lives beyond reason. At this point I can't imagine not having some around. Enjoy them!

LOL Australian shepherds are considered a non-barking breed :) However as we know, once a breed becomes popular, the genetics usually go into the toilet. Aussies weren't even recognized by the AKC until 1990... and it's been downhill ever since. Sadly, I've even seen mini-Aussies (whatever that means) and micro Aussies. The breed is being destroyed. Next time, buy your Aussie from an ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) breeder, and avoid like the plague anyone selling AKC dogs. The good Aussies come from the working dog lines; the AKC show dogs... not so much.

Did you see this? Under a new law, all dog owners in Germany will be required to walk their dogs at least twice daily. It also prohibits leaving your dog at home alone all day.

Americanized Aussies do bark. We had one next door for a number of years and it was a great guard dog for the back yard area of the house where it lived.

My wife would choose the dogs. No contest.

Interesting...

I looked it up on the German side of the web... The law also aims at reducing "breeding traits that result in discomfort or agony for the dogs". They specifically mention pugs (Möpsen) and the need/desire to reduce demand for the breed, because of breathing issues.

Relaxing on the deck of my home base in Big Bear feeding the Stellar Jays. :inlove:

A few e-bikes in whiting yesterday.
if you can afford an e-bike its a fair assumption you know how to read.

2 of the guys were probably 70 or more, so I kept my mouth shut...but pretty sure they can still read even if possible borderline dementia.

And I really don't know why it bugs me.....

It’s not every day something happens for the first time in 175 years.

It's like deja vu all over again!

And more importantly... is being against a candidate the same thing as endorsing his opponent? I am saying this as a strictly neutral independent voter. Sadly, I see our elections becoming more about who you are against, and less about who you are for.

I personally don't think our best and brightest citizens run for political office. Why would they want to? So most of the time I look at our elections as a lose/lose for me personally, and my family, collectively. I usually just vote on who I believe will do the least damage - which often means voting to maintain checks and balances, but not always.

I’m not sure about that. A lot of candidates come to politics with impressive resumes, then something makes them stupid. Just start naming off the many astronauts, doctors, generals, fighter pilots, and entrepreneurs that have come and gone in the past few decades. We get fixated on the reality TV stars and pro wrestlers. And it makes the whole process dumber.

senator Sasse says that the most productive and collegial work he does is on the intelligence committee. He says it works because nobody is using that committee to generate tv news content, they do it for the work. He says this in the context of arguing for removing tv cameras from the senate in favor of audio and print media.

I’m deeply saddened that people don’t understand what is really happening here, we are at war, and there is no more checks and balances when it comes down to completely tearing our beloved country down!
This hole thing is a desperate well orchestrated plan, they are so close, and then Trump with his middle finger! I’m sad people are so blind but I understand fully why!
The only good thing is that in this small window of time is that there are people spreading truth and more are seeing it, the plan, which is one we have used in other countries depends on, it not being exposed for it to work, I still have a sliver of hope? The damn main stream media is our bonafide enemy and that includes Fox News now for certain! I know life will never be the same.. I’m not going to argue, I know what I know. America is being played! God help us all!
