I'm going to buy a Walmart Mountain Bike.

Some of these are a little over budget, but they may take less, or they are actually well worth spending extra for IMHO. As for size, at 5'10" I'd guess large, but maybe a medium wouldn't be horrible, but I will caution that a bike that doesn't fit is not a bargain at any price.

What do you guys think of Fuji bikes? Nevada, Adventure?

I see the Nevada at Performance for under $600... Is that the one you're looking at? Entry level components, but it does have hydraulic brakes... That gets a thumbs up.

I looked at the Fuji Adventure, but it doesn't look like a mountain bike. More of a hybrid posing as a mountain bike.

Edit: Entry level bikes can get you out there, so you can start exploring... My Diamondback from 2011. I put about 4000 miles on that bike, and it was still going when I donated it to charity.

Thanks Faust. Yes I definitely like the hydraulic brakes. I sat on a Marin that had hydraulic brakes, I want those. I thought most mountain bikes were aluminum too?
