Ikon vs. Rekon... Any recommendations?

Oh hey, how about the Rekon Race 2.35? It looks like it's very similar to the Ikon... how does it stack up against that? I'm really leaning toward the Ikon 2.35 front and back, seems like that would do well for 90% of my riding.

Help me Obi Juan Knobby!

I don't think the 2.35 Rekon Race uses the same carcass as the Ikon. It's much smaller in volume.

I have stated that I love the Rekon Race. I currently have a 2.25, but have run the 2.35. It handled a wet winter in the Santa Ana’s with little trouble. It’s a fast tire.

how does it stand up to the Ikon? It’s faster. But the Ikon has more traction on.

mid run the Ikon front and rear...not sure if I’d run the Rekon Race up front for anything less than race day.

So still kicking around tire options 4+ years later. Always an evergreen conversation!
I recently came across this visual which I liked a lot:

The article it's from is here: https://www.worldwidecyclery.com/bl...-the-best-mtb-tire-combos-for-your-bike-video

Anyway, I'm probably going to be going with Rekon front, Rekon Race rear on my Blur, and some Ikon/Ikon set ups on the kid's Highballs. I also have some Nobby Nics on hand I'll throw on at some point, probably on the SS Chameleon, but I might do Rekon/Rekon Race on that as well. Not sure what to do with the Tallboy and if I'm going to sell it, so???

So many options...

When I exhaust my shop of Rekons, I think I’m moving to Forekasters front and rear. Just a tab more tooth with little roll resistance consequences.

I’ve used mainly rekons front and rear for a while, but just installed a new Rekon on the rear and was ready to put the Forkaster on the front, but was sidelined for a bit. Anyway, Rekon Rear and Forkaster Front will be the new DaniGnar combo soon!

( For full disclosure, decided to add the Forkaster to the front per WorldWide cyclery recommendation. )

Interesting... very interesting... I have some Ikons I want to use up, but also planning on doing Rekon F/Rekon Race R on another bike (the Blur came with brand new RR tires). Forkaster may be added to the consideration now!

So about the WT designation, does it really matter that my rims are all 25mm?
