I Rode My Bike Today...

Laguna noble canyon today. Day off.. shuttle w two friends... Snow patches on top.. windy.. lonely.. couple of hikers.. big coyote in the distance.. a flushed quail nearby... Meandering flowy Laguna single track with views of lake and grassland... Then the fun chunky of noble canyon.. forgot how techy some parts got.. took a spill..laughing at myself.. then came the stairway to hell.. so easy when u walk it..
My buddy cleared it by half crank pedalling ... He only been riding since March... Some people are just natural athletes..
Finished w the last climb and chunky downhill..
And frosty burger still open...now need to go to work to rest...

I rode today... With a special guest star from Mexico. He came all the way to Southern Canada to ride Strawberry... And he loved it! We even had the chance to make snowballs in the meadow.

We rode Strawberry with a guy named Josh once. He tumbled over the side and scared the crap outah me. It was a real b!tch trying to fetch him and his bike too...:Roflmao

Wow, what a douche move. Hard to imagine the kind of person who would do something like that

Yeah, that part of Santiago Canyon is way too sketchy for me right now. A woman was just killed there Sunday afternoon ...

This COMPLETELY sucks. Was she in the K-Rail section of Santiago Canyon road or at the intersection of Modjeska and Santiago? I was just there twice yesterday - 9:00 am and 10:45 am. The k-rail section was gnarly as I mentioned, but the intersection of Modjeska and Santiago is always a little risky, especially if you are southbound on SCR and turn left onto Modjeska.

Fahhhrrrrk!

Headed to Idyllwild Saturday to celebrate my wife's birthday, a week late because the weather was inclement last week. Great day at Thomas Mountain a six or so mile ascent of 1,400' or so. The weather was perfect 60+ degrees at 9 Am when we started and didn't change much during the day. The road was pretty dry most of the way.

Did you come down the ST? That's supposed to be a great trail.

@Faust29 did you find the waterfall section between Redbox and Switzer to be mellow? I rode Strawberry on Sat. and the waterfall section seemed to be easier than I had remembered in the past
The waterfall and I are not friends... The last 5 feet I usually screw up. It seemed about the same to me, but it's a lot easier without the tree across it...
@rossage has stated before that the Waterfall often gets "sanitized" by shuttlers. Also seems to get reconstructed back to the Waterfall. I have ridden it when it was easy-er as well as completely messed up. Not sure if it was me just having a good or bad day.

@Fueledbyex8 reached out last night for a morning ride today. @rossage jumped onboard and we did the classic Brown Mtn/El P route. Great temps, clean air, good views, and we mostly owned the mountain. On the second climb, we had fresh bear tracks on the trail for quite a ways. We got up to KB trailhead and chatted for a spell. A single rider came up and then shot back down the mountain. I think we happened upon a few hikers and a biker on the way back down to the lower saddle. We regrouped there and then blasted down to El P trailhead. We dropped in and it was a blissful stroll through some of the best ST So Cal has to offer. The usual miles and the usual elevation gain. Good times.

Not Saturday , but we have in the past and it's exceptional. Also, you can climb a little higher and descend Little Thomas Mountain which provides 1,800' of elevation and a 16 mile round trip (done that too). The up/down route is an excellent beginner ride since great views and not technical. Didn't encounter any other bikes or hikers.

Started at the top of Oneil today so I didn't have to add in all the road miles from home. Over to the ridge, down and around the Casper's Loop, back up Starr Rise and down into Coto. Through Riley up to Skink Vista then back to Arroyo into Oneil. Solid loop today with good temps. 30 miles 3500 feet.

Started after sundown and was treated to a wonderful-beautiful sunset. It was really nice over West Canada (Pine mtn) and changed continually as sunsets do. Ended up blazing red over Conejo Mtn. Only saw one other set of lights, these were out on west mesa. Only saw two humans, close to the trail head, with two German S's they were the big size ones, beautiful animals.
The world is right on the happy trails

Tuesday solo spin at Charred Hills State Park....er, I mean Chino Hills.

Got a late start. Rolled in from Rim Crest. Down Southridge and Diemer. Felt really strong going up Telegraph. The road has been both graded and had a ton of heavy vehicle traffic on it. Smooth and fast.

Started seeing the first evidence of fire just past the turn off for Syxamore. By the time I got to 4 Corners it was all burned up. The structures were still there, but all the brush was gone.

Raptor and Faultline was awesome with all the brush burned away....sight lines for miles. Faultline was soooo freaking fast.

the fire obviously burned all the way down to the Rolling M Ranch and campgrounds, how ver none of the structures were burned.

Local cruise. Mostly road, but some fun dirt of course. Teddy's Trail, Caroline Park, Manzanita Trail. First ride with the Scrambler set up as a 29er. Nice to be back on the big tire bus! They roll great, and the new 350 hubs are silent. Love 'em! The Ikons rolled well on the roads up and down, and were very grabby on the dirt when they needed to be. If they last longer than the Ray/Ralph combo they'll be keepers. Used my light for the last bit on Manzanita, and reminded that I don't like riding trails in the dark. Had to really go slow to stay on the trail.

Looks kind of eerie.

Was there water at the drinking fountain? ground appears wet.

In the theme of e-bikes, they are legal on most of the trails I've been riding here in NC. However I don't see them all that often, because the trails (to me) really don't benefit much from pedal assist. I am lucky if I get 100 feet per mile, and the technical challenges are moderate at best. Your speed is often limited by the trail line that weaves tightly between trees - slowing you down considerably without really adding to any difficulty (though they make the trail much more fun to ride).

Sort of humorous, Steve and I rode on Tuesday and were passed early in the ride by an e-biker. Once again the guy was 20 - 25 years younger than either of us, and was wearing a heavy jacket in the 60 degree weather :) Steve and I were sweating a good amount because we were actually earning our miles :) I just don't get it.
