I Rode My Bike Today...

I forgot my Strava today... So I didn't even ride.. just solved a mystery and had me a great burger.. the floop burger...
Saw the legendary mikie finish the floop burger and put me to shame..I took the 2nd place trophy in a doggie bag and will be eating hamburger for a few days..
Curly fries anyone?

Way to get out and ride, race – or whatever ya do out there, troopers!

I veered from my original plan which was a new-to-me ST run. I wanted the Rim Trail Workout™, which entails rough surfaces, endless ups & downs, and elevation. No substitute for it. :geek:

Climbed for two hours to reach the ST.

I really didn't have a plan beyond the Watson Lake area, but a few possibilities. Play it by ear. Two-plus hours into my ride I saw people. The deer tally today was off the hook, I lost count.

Stopped for numerous hikers, but no real break until I refilled my water at a flow near WL. At that point I had ridden four hours, but was sucking Tailwind the whole time, so was feeling the recovery.

The best view comes early on this ride:

Big Chief Trail option won out. Last time I dropped BC I was pretty wiped, and even skipped some of the bottom. Today I felt okay, so I opted for that and figured I could also tack on Sawmill Trail below it.

Big C was a freaking riot! Saxon Trail has no business being called "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride." BC is worlds wilder, and if you like wild, you should ride this trail. I am still not 100% healthy for airy stuff, but I did haul mail and pass a couple parties en route. Then Sawmill Trail. Over 23 miles of continuous ST before hitting a road, with about 30 feet of HAB.

Cool viewpoint on lower BC. Or was that Sawmill? @kingaucho, help me out here...

I need to be breezing these rides if there will be any hope of finishing Rose to Toads in a reasonable time. I felt like I did that today. 46 mi/5000'?/7:00

Dude! You should have said something... I always carry two GPS devices.

Got a late start after helping my daughter get out the door and changing my mind from surf to ride.

I've never seen more cars on and near Canyon Vistas (Aliso Viejo) than I did at 10:00 am this morning. Luckily, most were done riding. As usual, it was pretty empty after about 10:30.

Three ups, three downs in alternating fashion. Leg feels back to normal. Fitness lacking a little, but that's to be expected.

15 mi 2300'. Sunny, but cool and dry. Bike worked. Body worked. All good. Bikes are fun!  :)

I would have FLooped with the crew, but I just saw the crew last weekend, and I didn't want to wear out my welcome.
Glad the leg is back in business!

On a squiggly SMASH...beastly!
Inflated figures????!? I opened that track up in Gaia and it says around 5k’ ascent. In Garmin it says 7370. Don’t understand much of the tech end of this stuff, but I’m going with the lower number by feel; the el profile just doesn’t “look” like 7370...

I can only state definitively that it was an ass-kicking and idyllic ride. And that you rowdy riders here need to knock off Big Chief trail.

Hell yeah, @mike! Glad to see you're feeling better. Big ride and nice RR! Yeah, that's a view from Sawtooth Trail - Truckee River and 89 below. Nice pic.

Every now and then, my Garmin would go off the rails and give crazy numbers for some routes. Redlands Strada Rossa it inflated from 10,000 to almost 15,000. If I do an out and back to Caspers, sometimes it goes wacky and gives 4000, instead of the normal 1800. No idea why...

Still a great ride, no matter what the numbers were!

Well... It's hard to top the first annual IMTB Floop Invasion, but @mtnbikej and I got out earlyish today, and knocked out the Black Star to Motorway loop. We started from the tree farm at 6:00, and I was home by 9:45.

It was really soupy most of the way up Black Star, but the skies opened up just before the top. Then the views kicked in full throttle.

Main Divide is getting its summer coat of dust... 4-6 inches thick in spots, with a little extra summer chunkiness thrown in. The climbs are still :gag:, but they are over soon enough. The bugs are thick enough that you can skip breakfast and still get enough to eat... :p

Motorway is overgrown... No PRs are in danger. Always a riot, though... Two friendly hikers in the last mile.

26 miles and 4200 feet.

Clearing behind the golf ball... Cloud Soup down below...

Nice shot!

Fun ride this morning.....slept in and got a later start....rolled at 6:00. Still quiet out there. We rolled into the soup just below Hidden Ranch. It would clear out just about the top of Booby Trap.

From the Doplar Ball to Hagador seemed to go by quicker today.....dunno know why. Just before Pleasants Peak....the bugs came out in force. Main Divide is loose, dusty, gravely and loose.....yeah, I know. Motorway has once again overgrown....especially the top half. Saw our first people of the morning at the last switchback from the bottom.

61* rolling through Silverado Canyon on the way down.

Good ride.
25 /4200'

Then this afternoon, I thought I still had some gas left in the tank.....so I headed over to El Moro. I was kinda trying to make up for a somewhat short week numbers wise. From Ridge Park, Lizard, up Laurel(didn't have the legs for Willow), Old Emerald, Emerald Canyon, ML/FL, up Ticketron. By then the legs were on empty, so up No Dogs back to Ridge Park.

10/ 1550'

The IE, bitches!

Some advice from experience, herz: Don't argue with actually people.. your stock could take a big hit!:bang:
I used to work in the field with A guy Jim who would start most of his sentences with “actually.” The crew would blurt out ridiculousness to try and bewilder him, but he was also creative and had a rebuttal for frickin’ everything. Actually he was kinda entertaining.

Get that guy to sign up here! :geek:

We need Oscar Martinez types to keep us on point. Or, I do...

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. And I know it’s not Sunday.

McGill/Pinos ride with @SnakeCharmer . Those trails never disappoint! It’s been over a yr and it felt good to be back:inlove:
Still feeling a bit slow and hesitant on the DH, but all in good time:thumbsup:
Thanks again for the good company Mike:D

We flew up that mountain and we came down at a good pace also. The last section to get up to the top of Mt Pinos from Nordic Base is a soul squeezer and I was feeling dizzy due to the 8000'+ elevation but we crushed it! The views from up top were spectacular and there was a solid growth of wildflowers blanketing the zone. Perfect temps, perfect weather, and perfect company. Thanks again Sara!

Garmin Connect says:
15.83 miles
2759' gain
1328 calories
