I Rode My Bike Today...

Hit our local go to spot, Calavera, in Carlsbad. Tons of short ups and short downs. Definitely a decent workout when you only have an hour. If you look in the right direction, you even have ocean views (photo 2). Believe it or not, the rd photo is an extinct volcano.

Your user name should have been "Traveling Wilbury". You seem to be in a different location almost daily.

That's the Roman Road which is up at the areas highest point, the water tank. Also where you can see the ocean from on a clear day. Just as long as I'm in town, I'll be glad to show you around. @pperrelle is moving down to Carlsbad permanently in a few weeks so he should be a Calavera expert by August as well. Bring your lights, we can go at night if it's hot.

Yep, @mtbMike was kind enough to give me a tour and I've been back a couple of times and am starting to figure out the lay of the land. Happy to show you around. The trailhead is just steps from the new house.

I dragged my lazy carcass outta bed early enough to ride to work this morning. I get to do it in the other direction this afternoon. :geek:

I've really been slacking; first commute since Bike to Work Day last month, I think.:gag:

17 miles with under 300 ft of gain to get here.:thumbsup: About the same for the trip home.

San Gabes with @Luis, @David Cho, Scott and Steve. I haven't been over there for a couple of years and boy am I glad I went. There is so much to be had. Mildish climbs followed by chunky technical singletrack. I need to ride that stuff more often as I tended to hesitate on some of it today. I got a slice in my rear tire that a plug wouldn't fix so I ended up putting a tube in. Not long after that I clipped a sign on Sunset and had a mild OTB. Apparently the sign was just put up. I don't like where they put it. Anyways it was a great ride overall. Can't wait to go back.

Yea what @UPSed said, rode our bikes today :)
JPL start. Up the Gab to Fern TT-Up Fern to the Brown Mt saddle-Down Brown FR to Millard-Up the connector to Chaney Rd-Up the pavement from hell to Lowe FR and all the way up to Inspiration point.
After some inspiration we headed down Middle Merrill to Echo Mt from there we took the Lowe/Sunset connector to Sunset ST.
The chunk on Sunset did a number on Ed’s rear tire and one of the signs near the bottom did a number on Ed
Back at Millard we climbed back up Brown to El Prieto and after a quick bomb session we were back at JPL :)

I rode my bike today... First ride since the IMTB Socially Awkward Ride. New puppy, mother-in-law, graduation stuff... :bang:

I left the house about 8:00 and it was a cool and damp 55 degrees, with about 50 feet of visibility. :inlove: I took the plastic Highball and climbed Vista in O'Neill and went down the DH.

My house is in those clouds on the right...

Played roadie to Santiago Truck Trail. At the top of Modjeska Grade, Mickey Mouse told me it was 85 degrees. :gag:

No PRs were in danger heading across STT out to the luge. It was hot, and I was really starting to understand that 32x20 is too hard of a gear. Maybe if I work at it... Maybe never! :p I did clean the F-U climb, but it was questionable for a few seconds...

I hung out at the flag for a few minutes, which my watch counted as luge time. Fun run down... The plastic frame really soaks up the bumps better than the aluminum ever did. With the heavier fork, the luge is almost pleasant. :p

20 miles, I think... And 2800 feet.

I wonder if it was "the pavement from hell" that Ed was calling "Mildish"?

Sure took your mother in law a long time to graduate.
Nice ride

Yoga is pretty awesome..esp for mtbkers.. we can really use the stretching, balancing n detoxing aspects of yoga to help us recover get better on the bike..
Lower back compression caused by ever increasing gnarl n speed..greatly alleviated by yoga...
Not so much into the new age aspects but definitely has benefits....
