Tuesday afternoon at the Oaks......

Rolled out with @horsebikerider . Down Yucca....ran into @Ebruner and his friend Brian. Up Coachwhip for the first time since the fire. Suz continued on for a shorter loop and I hopped in with Erik and Brian. Deer-Barham Ridge....Ran back into Suz and @H2oChick at the top of Chutes. Down Cactus-Coachwhip-Deer-Barham Ridge-Chutes Trail.....adios to the guys. Up Chutes Trail, down Cactus, up Bumblebee, down Peralta and home. Ran into @cajun along the way.

Good times tonight

Tons of riders out....and I mean tons. Felt like a Saturday morning out there.

rode my usual except @ 5 instead of sunset. I found the main trail entrances roped off with yellow tape and a sign saying area closed due to hazardous conditions. Well lucky me I was out by myself from a different entrance. And with only one set of bike tracks and nobody else. Dirt was dry and really good with no loose dusty stuff. I never saw the hazardous stuff except the eye of the tiger drop (400 ft 1/4 mile). EYT is always hazardous and with the rain ruts it had added attraction. No wash outs in the deposits at the bottom of the chutes which is always good. Climbing back out I used my shoe to clear some water bars so the water will not wash so far down the trail like it has been.
Happy why close the park because ch 7 says there is an atmospheric river out there?
what dweebs. happy trails

Black Star Social Solstice Ride... Thanks to @Rumpled . @Old&InTheWay , @BeckTrex , @Stkx66 , @Grego ... And a bunch who are not on the forum.

Up the mountain we went... A broken pedal (@Old&InTheWay ), a visit to the grinding holes for @Stkx66, some Metallica, and beers for all (most, actually).

But the highlight of the night for me has to be getting passed in Hidden Ranch by a guy on a beach cruiser pedaling backwards... :eek:o_O:confused:

Those ebikes multiplied....think we saw 4-5 of them....one guy riding one wearing goggles.

I saw three while I was out there. One coming down the 3 B’s when I was going up and two more as i was climbing BB back to the top of Chutes. I’m not a fast climber, but I kept seeing a girl and a guy catching up to as they were casually pedaling. Once they got closer I saw the fat down tubes......

We saw maybe 2 people... one on an E-Bike WITH a dog off leash...oh and a kid named Robert, who rides for Baghouse, just ripping ALL the trails.

For Tuesday, 1130 at oaks it was crowded. two guys on bikes.. one runner .. hikers with dogs .. and ... that's it! I guess everyone was trying to get in a ride before the rains...
no e bikes...

oh and one possible snake stretched out across deer.... might of jumped over a snake or a branch.. still not sure...

@SnakeCharmer I was riding Sycamore this morning and found a trail friend. I came around a corner and watched the snake coil up. My options were to bunny hop or skid to a stop. I had a friend following behind, so I didn't want to stress out the snake. I came to a stop about 2 feet from him and he made a half-hearted strike at my front wheel. This was the first Red Diamondback that I have spotted. We snapped a few pics and then the snake moved off the trail into the riverbed. It was a great day of riding.

Gorgeous snakes, they are. It's actually called a Red Diamond rattlesnake. Thanks for sharing. That's the first rattlesnake I have heard of so far this late Winter.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I went for a ride at Hulda Crooks today to beat the rain and I also ran into a red diamond rattler.

Got up and checked the amazingly accurate (in hindsight) weather forecast, and it looked like there was time for a morning ride. Key words "looked like." I rolled out of the driveway at 8:30 under light sprinkles and headed for the STT. They continued as I climbed Modjeska Grade and I thought I was going to have to turn around. Then I got on the dirt and "THE INTERMITTENT SPRINKLES OF THIS AND PREVIOUS CENTURIES!!!" backed off and I eventually knew I wouldn't have to bail. I had a rain jacket stuffed in my jersey pocket for such an occasion, but there it stayed. The descent to the flag was fun, and the Luge was a blast! I unleashed some serious but playful micro-aggression on the little drops, and railed the berms at full-blown (medium) speed. No PR's, but no helicopter extraction either. The trestles section was so fun I did it twice, but went fast enough to blurt out, "We're gonna need some bigger berms, Captain!" I also cleaned out the landscape drain we added last weekend to eliminate the pond effect on the bottom turn (I think a 9mm allen key is the right size to fit through the slats), so let the drizzle commence. Streets were wet on the climb back home and I felt so @Cisco Roots.. that's right, bad weather don't stop me, baby.

Been doing plenty of riding lately but not so much posting of pics. Here's a few to catch up!

Rode Anderson TT last night.

The Forest Service was scheduled to decommission the roads up top and ATT proper. They had agreed to leave a singletrack in place. From what I had been hearing I expected fully re-contoured slopes with just a small bench remaining.

Instead they basically just sent a mini excavator part way down the trail, took scoops out of the trail bed every 4-5 ft and dropped the scoops in between the holes. Then piled brush on top. There was no re-working of the slope, so they basically just made a mess and left us with a single singletrack line. This only affected ATT above where Spicolli 2 drops out - below that it must be owned by someone else. So basically trails are still fully open, no real impact to us.
