I Rode My Bike Today...

As @Cougar shared already, we hit the Maple Springs to Motorway loop. This is a little bit easier than the Black Star to Motorway loop that a few of us did yesterday... But it's a lot cooler at the end of Silverado Canyon! The Garmin said 48 at the parking lot, and it stayed pretty close to that until we hit the end of the pavement three miles in and started climbing on the dirt. The sun quickly brought the temperature up to the mid 60s, where it stayed for most of the ride.

This is a fun loop... I love the views on Maple Springs and Main Divide, and the Motorway descent is a lot of fun... We were pretty quick, even with slowing for a few hikers.

Good ride, good company, and lots of fun...

17 miles and 3600 feet...

Got together with @PATKOUG and some local friends to shuttle San Juan. We threw in the Viejo Tie loop as well with its nice technical singletrack. Only the second time I've been. After that we stayed on the San Jan trail proper. New dirt for all of us. Usually we take the hike a bike route as it was the only way I knew. Never again! Played leapfrog with another group but they were cool and having a good time too. SJ DH is in great shape, fast and flowsome. Vanishing Vince and Ripp'n Ryan did non-stop. They rest of us were not far behind:whistling:. A couple minor crashes from the new guy Adrian, nothing serious, more like fun! No pic's just a still from Vincent's Go-pro. A fire off in the distance. Streamers on the bars because that's what kids do.

So I rode Sat and Sun.

Sat I was tired so I just headed out to LCWP on the new B. Ended up having a good ride. Set a PR on Lizard on the new B :)
And hey @herzalot flew through *that* corner on Camarillo, the B just ate it up, plus it seems "better" right now.

Today, I broke out the Fixie and rode 30 miles along HB and Seal Beach kind of an easy ride, and it was a *spectacular* day and great waves should have stopped and taken some pics but didn't happen.

Feeling lucky to live here...

I was out yesterday on the famous IKE HARDING MEMORIAL WILDERNESS TRAIL (aka Harding Truck Trail) :) As far as I'm concerned, they should name it Harding Poison Oak and Rattlesnake Trail if it keeps the crowds away!

Here's why I like it:

I really don't like to be around lots of people :)

Looks like a late start.....I prefer pre-dawn starts out there.

The end of daylight savings pulled the rug out from under my schedule. It was a late start - I took the photo at 6:30. Funny thing - I had my bike light all charged and ready to go because three weeks ago at 6:00 it was dark! I got up at 5:30 and looked out the window and could already see light on the horizon and knew I wouldn't be needing the light :)

By the way, the next rider on the trail hit the trailhead at about 7:45. He was easily an hour behind me - I passed him by the springs on the way down.

Couldn't find anyone to tag along so I decided to ride STT-Luge solo this afternoon. Sun was dropping as I was riding up and was all the way down before I hit the luge. I took it easy since I was by myself. Nice, quick after work spin.

I rode last night.

Night ride out at Blackstar. We wanted to take in the Super Moon.

Rolled at 5;30 with no moon. Just as we hit the pavement at the top of Hidden Ranch it crested over the ridge. Felt like I was staring into a spot light.

Temps were pretty nice.

3 of us made it to Beeks. The other 2 chose to cheat and run lights in the way down. I chose to embrace the Super Moon....no lights. Very fun run down.

Lots of others out starting a bit later.

Well I rode the wifey's bike today but since I bought it it still counts here. It wouldn't be Sunday if I didn't ride with Rusty & the family. The Mrs needed a break from us boys(mostly Rusty) so she stayed home. Nick got to try out his new imtbtrails jersey that he's been wearing for the last 2 days straight. He said it worked great and gave him some extra power on the big climb up the canyon.

The look on Nick's face sez it all. He be rockin' it with Dad. Way to go Dad!

High gravity was noted along my path today, which was met with a wee bit of recklessness.

Climbing up Trabuco Creek and planning to do Los Piños to San Juan, Bluejay CG, Main Divide and back down Trabuco, I was not feeling particularly strong, and actually a little pukey a couple of times. Heading to LP Peak, a quick list of bailouts flashed in mind. But I resisted and just barrelled into the ridge without a break so I'd be committed before silica vaginitis could take hold.

The Czar held its own through the Los P trickery, though taking more effort and focus than my fat-rimmed Bronson. Suspension travel is not really a factor on this trail. I got to the lower San J trailhead in a surprising 3.5 hours. But this ride is all about the second half. Recover or get worked.

I did get a little worked with my 30 x 36 granny, but pedaled a ton up to the steeps on Main Divide, where extra pushing was required. I was pretty spent and had no idea where I was time-wise. I had hoped to PR the thing today, but that was way out the window. I finished at 8:30, my second best time out of the five times I've done it. We figured this route at ~34 miles and ~8600' if I'm not mistaken. But I'm often wrong.

Saw two riders low on San J, and a big group of shuttlers kicking it at Cocktail. No other trail users seen. A beautiful day with a not-too-cold start followed by cool breezes and lots of vitamin D. Trail and road surfaces fairly dusty as you'd expect.

Happy weekend, get on that bike and ride!!!!!!! :devilish:
