I Rode My Bike Today...

Jason, was that on Cadillac or STT? The article said east of Trabuco Creek Road, which sounds more like Bell. I don't remember hearing about it, but that's irrelevant. My goal is to keep things like this from happening on a trail that is definitely closed to motorized vehicles, not engineered to handle them and wrecks the trail for legal users.

Cadillac's a sketchy road, but an off-road magnet. If the property owner can't or won't gate it, the Forest Service should at least put the barriers and signage up at their own borders.

The ranger we talked to said it was right at the top of the beginning section, where the truck is flipped upside down and over the side.

..And thanks for the RR, glad to hear you like the Ripley and the trails you built and hardly ever ride :) I especially like the up-and-over line heading into the first lower luge switchback ;)

You know I'm riding them in my mind while I'm digging. And I took that up-and-over line yesterday. Not sure who built it but it worked OK at medium speed. A buddy hit it faster and landed on the turn itself, so maybe it's a little close. Gotta think of all the users when you're building something like that. o_O

OK, thanks. And sorry to hear that.

Not that any place is totally safe, but IMO whoever owns the land should bear partial responsibility for not signing it and/or attempting to close access. If the landowner is actually encouraging people to drive that road (?), perhaps they should also be the ones paying to put up barricades at the Forest boundaries, along with signed recommendations concerning safe use of the road itself.

I rode... I made it to the top of Robinson Ranch on the Bell Trail without sinking into the mud today. It was bone dry compared to the other day. From there, I did a run to Caspers on the Bell Trail, with a few miles of the single track extra credit. I actually saw 4 other bikers out there today! 26 miles and 3000 feet...

I guess this a I road a bike report, got a kid on my route, at least his family is, that races pro motocross and has a garage full of two wheeled vehicles that aren't being used, he knows I mtn bike and said to take a road bike and put it to use it was just collecting dust. I never ridden one before so today was a just a cruise to get used to it, a few more rides and I'll feel comfortable with it

Hit Whiting-STT-Old Camp & the Luge this morning. Early start and the weather was perfect. Ran into Faust, MtnbikeJ & Strandlepper at the top of Mustard. Good to put some more faces to names. What is a long ride for me today paled in comparison to their long ride! It's a fun descent from Old Camp back to Live Oak road.

Nice ride.

Sorry I missed ya....didn't put 2 + 2 together when they said they met some people a 4 Corners.

I took an inaugural ride on the newly opened Ken Burton trail. Met up with the MWBA crew and finished up the last of the trail work necessary for the trail to reopen. Got some poison oak blisters to add to my mtb battle wounds for the week. I know chicks dig scars on jacked calves, but blisters may not be so sexy.

Rode Saturday at the Floop. Vincent and I linked everything we could find to get some miles in (without driving anywhere) since Rwanda is coming up. Been a long time since we have done anything substantial. I was more worried about him but as it turned out, he dropped me the entire ride. I paced myself thing he'd burn out and I'd catch him later but nope. Both of us still had energy at the end so I think were good for Rwanda. Strava map looks like spaghetti. After the ride we had 3 flat tires. Damn thorns!

Then today we explored Powder Canyon with a group. Not a whole lot of riding but now I know to find some good technical lines. Will go back for the goods next time.

3 rides 3 days. yesterday San Juan, today Marshall canyon and tomorrow showing the goods to a new friend on Itchy Scratchy Webb. Damn you O.C. guys gotta get out and do some trail brushing on San Juan. Blood everywhere, going up coming down. Wide bars aren't helping either. Those bushes are nasty! Had a blast riding with my Brother, Redwoods and T-2.

^^Didn't need the tools, but a tow rope would've helped. Cholla and West Ridge are tough when you're out of shape.
But Meadows was fun, even though I felt like a not-so-wily coyote chasing a dust-cloud producing road runner! Anyway, baby steps back to fitness after a sooooper looooong lay off.
Good to be out there!

Way to go @MrGreedom !
Thanks for donating the time. How was the full run. Did you notice the section @Voodoo Tom and I shaped? Ha hah! It's great the trail is open!

Edit: I pick up the New RFX to demo tomorrow.

I'll be interested to know how that one compares to the Tracer you recently demo'd. I am guessing you will like it a lot, but it has very different geometry than the Tracer. I have learned that homers tend to remain homers. They say "there's something about that Turner ride..."

As for the gap jump, well, as you know, hesitation breeds devastation. So as Yoda would say, "Do - or do not. There is no try."

Not only that but Christina Turner and I are gonna start riding together - I'm so stoked I moved here!!

Demoed a Mojo 3 on home turf yesterday (tried one out at Sycamore two weeks ago), shoed with the 2.8 Nobby Nics. Bike is grin-inducing. Probably not enough bike for some of the off-menu stuff, and I didn't try any of the more difficult stuff yesterday, but for 90% of the riding around here, it's perfect. I miss that DW link on the fireroad grinds. Trying to figure out a way to get rid of my recently purchased Warden and come up with a couple extra thousand...hoping they release an SLX or GX kit to really bring the price down.

I got out for a Tuedsay afternoon ride at the Oaks....as I usually do.

Right away the legs were heavy. Started to roll at 3:20 and it was quite toasty. It would only get toasty'er on the way to the park. Knew I was on my own today so I had thoughts about where to go. About mile 17 my legs went away for good. I don't think I could have gone up Coachwhip any slower that I did without stopping.
