I Rode My Bike Today...

I had a great ride today riding from Quail Hill down to Crystal Cove and back. I rode my Lynskey 29-140 which is 140mm front and 140mm rear travel bike. It's my longest wheelbase bike I have and with a steep seat tube angle- a great climber for being a ( heavyish ) Titanium full travel bike. This bike rides like a cloud. What is a bump? More importantly I climbed all the hills roundtrip with no HAB except for that ledge on Lizard trail. I'll take it. ;) 24.8 mi/ 3,700 climbing.

The frame bag has the usual stuff- tube, tools plus an extra bottle of water. I don't ride with a backpack or waist pack unless I'm going way far out like Palm Canyon Epic for example. I'll get a measurement of the bottom bracket height and post it.

Rolled out at Greer this morning 8:30 with Jose. He had been off the bike so it was to be a social multi break pedal. Up to the Overdrive lookout, down Distortion , up DD to 215 upline to the towers, down Monk dawg, back up to Overdrive look out down overdrive up and out Jumping Mouse. A self made breeze when we were moving and temps were tolerable up till we finished at 12:30. Met up with some other buddies so there was a lot of banter going on. Good times on 2 wheels.
Baaaaaallllllzz baby!

Super nice/fun day in the Cheese. Did the death climb into the canyon. After whacking my noggin a couple months ago tumbling down The Wall, and then following that up a couple weeks later with an attempt that fell decidedly short, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't all up in my head again. Despite some butterflies I cleaned it today as authoritatively as I ever have, as well as the tricky climb a bit before it. That was really good for the psyche. The plan from there was to head up Palo Comado to Dead Cow, to keep things some semblance of chill, but the siren song of Suicide was too strong. Today the butterflies at the top had largely abated. If there is such a thing as a chill run down Suicide, today was it. Not my fastest, but not slow either. Put some nice exclamation points on a few features, and took a few different lines where things have been changing. Took the twisty path down the Toilet Bowl for the first time in a while. Back down Sheep Corral, which just hits different after Suicide. Mega fun. After doing heavy squats and dead lifts yesterday my legs were jello today, but over all stamina was good. Just a good solid ride with enough excitement but no drama. Bikes are fun. 18.7/2588

TFPU I have hit Dead Cow quite a bit lately it seems, but have not done Suicide. I need to get back out there soon.

Do it. I feel like I've posted a lot lately about how it's running super burly, but I had a different experience today. I mean, it will always be burly, but a couple different lines are opening up in places, and maybe it was my imagination but I felt like the very top section was a little more forgiving than it has been.

I rode… easy-peasy El Prieto loop to try out the new GoPro.

Raw footage unedited if anyone is interested in the new Hero 11- Fern and El Prieto. https://gopro.com/v/0rnwabMzGwlwb

And a side trip after… :whistling:

I was out there too and I guess that was you that I saw at the saddle. I was the one sitting in the shade on the left - next to the bench. I do remember that ebike guy at the beginning of your video. I'll be sure to day hello if I see you out there again. :)

I went up to Ken Burton junction then back down to Prieto. Hadn't been there in a while and I was surprised to see how dry it is. Didn't see anyone on Prieto on my way down.

That was me... If I seemed anti-social, my mother in law is staying with us. I may be out of sorts for awhile.

El Prieto was pretty much wide open... one hiker in the first half, and I've seen her a few times before. I think she lives above there.

I rode with Snake Man today... Tried to take it easy for the most part, so I have some legs left for tomorrow. :whistling: The motos were out in full force today. I got a little hot under the collar when 3 extremely clueless specimens rode our butts up the short steep loose section past the first bench on Brown. Karma struck shortly after when the lead moron crashed going uphill trying to navigate an easy transition. The other two monkeys attempted to assist, but all I could picture was the clown car at the circus...

Ken Burton was in fine shape today! I really need to ride that one more often. It doesn't get the traffic of El Prieto, and it's a little gem...

What is this witch craft with the widgets on that video!?!
My secret fantasy is watching some dude with an e-bike waste away under a cruel so-cal sun due to a spent battery.:whistling:

So that’s what KB looks like!
let’s do the dew!!!

Drivetrain maintenance?
Or, did you just do it yesterday and the salt got it already?
Why? For performance? :Roflmao I squirt some lube on it occasionally. I'll throw some on tomorrow to make you happy!

BTW I enjoyed passing a roadie on my way up the hill, and almost catching another. With a board on my bike and a backpack. I Sh!t you not. And I was the only pedal bike out of the 20 or so bikes I encountered, other than the roadies.

I'm sofa king cool!

And ebikes are killing surfing too! :bang:

I managed to ride my bike for 2 days in a row! Both of them were pretty pathetic Luge loops. I did manage to equal the pb on the squishy bike so pretty happy with that. Yesterday was a solo lunchtime loop, today was a more eclectic affair. What happens when a German, a Frenchman and a Kiwi go for a ride? Turns out the German is remarkably funny, of course the Frenchie looks typically stylish and the Kiwi well he does his best not to bring up the rainbow warrior or talk about the war. It was a 6:30 start cos kids but it meant it was real quiet as we turned the pedals out to the flag. A handful of others around, notable mention to the plucky trail runner that used us to pace himself up the final hill before the run down to the flag. We hung out at the flag waiting for two other runners to head down the Luge and then dropped in. I was on a good one until an impressive two wheel drift put me off line and screwed everything up. So I backed off and just chilled the rest of the way.
The German was the first to surrender when we got back to Cooks Corner, Frenchie and I headed back up the hill for a quick run thru Whiting before heading home. I pulled a sly one on him and made him ride back up Concourse. I think he called me a merde on the way up :whistling:

On to tomorrows suffer fest. Probably going to die, c'est la vie.

Wolvertin Mtn. Very fun, flowy single track downhill. Dirt was perfect. Uphill climb on Jack Pine was seriously washed out, rutted and rocky but mostly ridable with a couple of HAB necessary (for me at least),

I miss that view! Wolverton is one of my favorite trails in Prescott. It's actually quite climbable itself, so it makes for a good out-and-back.

Sat. Maple Springs. Initially went towards Harding but at the Modjeska Road turnoff discovered there was a festival going on near the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary which meant no parking at the trailhead so went to MS instead and did secure a parking spot at the gate. Upon riding immediately had to deploy the insect net. At 1/4 mi. up encountered a newly fallen tree with the road crossing branches sawed off. Most likely caused by the deluge witnessed on previous MS ride. Later in the 1st mi. saw a coiled rattlesnake which had been runover by a motor vehicle. Not a pretty sight to behold. At mile 2 found somebody's cellphone laying on the dirt shoulder. Stopped at the 1st guardrail to plug in the lights as it was now dark. In spite of all the motor vehicle traffic, persevered and made it up to 4 Corners, where there was a 4x4 shindig going on. Had the ride back down all to my self which was nice. 14.61 / 2,657 65 degrees
