I Did Some Trail Work Today

Good job, team!!!

The few who are working on any particular trail are putting smiles on the faces of the others who ride them, that includes me. And I’m shocked how much the pictures posted show how much has changed there.
Yes, in many sections, it's been shaved clean. But the overall personality of that section of trail remains the same. I suspect that the open grassland sections that part of the trail runs through were once dense bushes/trees. Across the way, we saw at least one stand of pines. I bet there was a heck of a lot more of those there many, many moons ago, and probably where the trail runs through now.

Spent 4 hours on the rake with the @allthelaps crew for the first day of clearing New Millenium. What an undertaking. This was my first official trail work, and I'm stoked to have a part in getting this trail rideable again. Since I'm not working at the moment I'll hopefully be participating in all the future work days as well.

Met up with a few friends at Five Deer to resurrect part of this old time mtb trail. We got a lot done thanks to John and his weed saw(don’t know the name of it , but it’s like a bladed weed whacker). Believe it or not I’ve never ridden 5Deer, I’ve only done trail runs and 4X off roading up there.
The weather was freaking perfect, with a nice cool breeze the whole time. Thanks @JoeMac for helping out, it was great to meet Debbie as well, please thank her for me! Sorry we didn’t get any pics of you two in action! We’ll have another work day if anyone wants to join, I’ll post it up ;)

5-Deer Mountain Bike Trail was the only MTB trail I saw labeled on a 7.5’ USGS Topo Map.:thumbsup:

Awesome sauce! and thanks
You’re welcome :)
@DangerDirtyD IDK what that means, but Ive been told that the trail was specifically made for mtb back in the 70’s I believe! Pretty cool!
@hill^billy I only helped with maybe a mile section, I’m not sure how far the guys got after I left.
Our own imtb member Joe was up a ways on the trail, how far did you guys get Joe? @JoeMac

More Five Deer work today! There were five of us and the weather was more than ideal, with a nice layer of fog and a cool breeze. The poison oak was freaking everywhere and it was unavoidable! I am horribly allergic dammit, I had a bad experience a few yrs ago (that’s a whole other story:whistling:) so we’ll see how this pans out in a few days...:bang::gotnothing::gag:
John killed it by clearing a section that was nearly un-passable, he also cleared out a truck load of PO so that I could follow and do my job. Betweeen the 5 of us we got a lot of trail cleared, but there’s still more to do.

Sara, if you don't already take a daily antihistimine, I urge you to take it for the next several days. It will reduce your reaction to PO and maybe even block it all together.

How did you manage to cut John’s ear? :p

Nice work MT Girl (and all).

Did you get to this spot yet? Attn: Sawyers...

I suppose you could dig a go-around but that would harsh someone's flow.
This looks like the spot where we called it a day, but @SS Barby did keep going around the bend for a bit. The guys are talking about bringing a chainsaw or building a wood ramp
