Get yer FiveTens

The company was bought by Adidas for the rubber compounds. FT – the company and the shoes – is going away. Time to hit the outlet or other stores if you wanna sport the Brand Of The Brave.

The Impact Lows I had were decently long-wearing performers. The Freeriders even better. Plus I'm sentimental...

A dirtbag rock climber sells his brainchild for a cool $25 mil. Nice summit, Charles.

I know resolers that have started seeing rubber choices disappearing. The operation is said to be moving out of Redlands also. Look for more influence by Adidas and its owner than FT. Take it for what it's worth, campfire talk, but that doesn't make it patently untrue.

I've enjoyed the 5 10 freerider pros these last few months.

What is adidas doing with the compounds? Maybe this will bring addidas back into MTB footwear?

Lots of new flat pedal shoes coming into play. Shimano with Michelin and now pearlizumi with vibram.

Five tens impacts are the only bike specific shoes (for flats) that have ever fit my wide feet, and the xvi's are the best. I saw some recent news somewhere about new models, specifically new impacts, coming out for 2018. So I'm being cautiously optimistic. I've been hearing that ft was closing for 6 years.
Tried some of the adidas sticky soles shoes-awful fit and feel no thanks. Guess I'd have to wear my running shoes for riding

Yes, production is stopping. They're moving everything out of the warehouse, blowing it out, and donating a lot of it. Adidas bought them pretty much for the intellectual property of their rubber compound. They are going to be using it on Adidas branded shoes. Sponsored athletes will maintain their contract, but move over to Adidas.

I'm bummed, as I liked having them here in town, even if manufacturing was overseas. I wish their shoes worked for me, but other than their approach/casual shoes, they don't fit my feet well.

got home from work and checked 510s site. They are blowing out all their hiking and canyoneering shoes for $80, just oredered a pair of the gtx camp 4's (normally $190!)
My theory: Adidas is going to keep the climbing and bike lines (itd be abysmally stupid not to) and getting rid of the hiking and canyoneering shoes.

Thanks for the link...

Pics show stitching across the front of the shoe. I like that idea to help hold the toe in place. My current pair is just a couple months old and already the toe is separating from the shoe. This has been a problem the last few pairs especially. They don't seem to last nearly as long as the earlier pairs I owned. Hopefully adidas can make some improvements.

My Impacts did the same in about the same timeframe as well. My buddy gave me a tube of E6000 glue that he'd used on his shoes. I was skeptical
but tried it w/ a bunch of adj clamps and it's held up for a couple of months so far.

Mind as well stitch the top piece...
