Flyin' Brian joins Ellsworth!

About 18 months ago I wrote Ellsworth asking for a demo in range from my home. They build up a brand new
EPIPHANY CARBON 29
just for me and arraigned for me to pick it up at Pure ride for an overnight trip.

That was my first time ever speaking with anyone at Ellsworth and they were helpful, knowledgeable and kind.

In 2006 I probably would have given a kidney for a Moment or a Dare. Never knew people had issues with them.

I remember their old model the Truth, that was cracking after switching from Easton Aluminum to some other brand to save money. They were not doing very well with their supposed lifetime warranties, often charging close to a $1000 bucks to fix broken frames. Their frames were pricey too, around $2500 in 2000!

The font Ellsworth often uses reminds me of tramp stamp/stomach tattoo style. I think the flames on the intense head tube badges looks lame too. Very 90’s, lifted truck on the way to Havasu like.
Faux German blackletter looks great on MS13 members. It looks terrible in outline and other EW applications I've seen. But at least they realized it was stale and replaced it. With a "handcrafted" script type...just so you understand how hand crafted every bike they make is...

I'm not getting the significance of the black spur in the mark, but have a theory:

It's the dark underbelly of the company, mobilizing its concealed barb, ready to penetrate the unsuspecting patron.

Based on reputation, I have no affection for B Lopes as a human. My only direct interaction was a quick comment at BikeCo. He was neither rude nor affable.
Having seen him ride (race on Telonics), I have tremendous respect for him as a rider. Phenomenal.
FWIW, I totally get (and support) his kapow to Kabush.

I touched two of Brian's bikes today! Are you jealous?
I was surprised to see Shimano brakes and pedals. He's been sponsored by Magura and HT for the last many years. Also WTB tires instead of Maxxis. Still on XFusion suspension. I forgot to look at wheels and hubs. He was on Novatec on his Intense.

Forgot to take pics. :(

Yeah, he got new sponsers for 2017, including Chris King. He's no longer with TLD either, he's repping G-form now

Yeah, that’s an Alchemy, and it would make sense that he would be on them, but I heard differently. I could be wrong. Frankly, my dear, I don’t... care that much.
