Flooding in NC

Just heard from Co worker who retired there couple 3 yrs ago. Didn't hear from her for couple days. She Texted me today reporting plenty of damage, death. Her texts:
Hi, thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayers. I'm safe, my neighbors lost their home, freeway gone, no power, community and churches helping each other . It's devastating and many deaths around us. Please ask everyone to pray for our area's people.
I go down to the Poplar community center for phone and supplies, so I can get cell service then.

getting ready to head out for a spin today so I lurked on over here…thought I’d add a little:

My wife is a FEMA Urban SAR volunteer with California Task Force 6 (aka Riverside FD). We were on vacation so she couldn’t go herself but 30 of her teammates convoyed with CA-TF7 (San Diego) out to South Carolina the day after the storm. One of the SD vehicles was in an accident near Shreveport and a couple folks were hospitalized…still waiting to hear about them.

Her role as a structures specialist is to evaluate and stabilize buildings enough to let the firefighters search. The structures specialists are usually pretty bored on hurricane deployments, so it’s probably ok she’s not there. She worked Maui Fires and has some stories, so I’m sort of glad she sat this one out.

Please post more often. We miss you around here.

I hope your wife's teammates are ok.
