I know this is one of the least important aspects of the Palisades fire, but there are some great trails that I've recently grown quite enamored with, that I have to think are engulfed right now. I was worried about winds impacting a planned ride on some of them tomorrow. This wasn't what I was worried about. Eerie views from work in Santa Monica today.

Eaton Canyon has one reported now. Hopefully they can tamp that one down quickly.
Just heard from my Brother who lives up by Eaton. They're evacuating, heading down to our house.
I think Faustie is even closer, so, sending good thoughts as I don't think he's on here anymore.

We managed to avoid evac, but had bags packed and ready because the adjacent zone had orders to go.
Just got word on watch duty that areas near Monrovia canyon got downgraded to warning, so that is good news

I love the West ridge/Dirt Mulholland/Temescal Ridge loop... one of my favorites (although WR climb suuuuuucks). Another favorite trail gone. Inconsequential to the thousands of homes that have been burnt, but it makes it personal for me, rather than some event happening out there.

Temescal/Backbone/J-Drop/Nic Cage/Westridge has become my favorite SS loop, and they have been in fantastic shape lately. Yup. Such heavy news. I saw a couple pics, and they were really sobering. My heart really aches for them.
