Elevation numbers high due to Covid

Apparently... you are riding with the wrong peeps... :whistling:
imtb-Canada is the the place you otta be, so they loaded up the bikes and they head for Golden Eeeeeee!
Golden Eagle that is, Cold Beers... and Movie Stars.
Exactly what I was thinking... And we even have a special beer for that trail.:geek:

Nope and nope. But thanks. I can go fast over chunk in a straight line if I know the trail, and I do enjoy drops up to 4 feet or so. That's about it. Put me on a narrow, gravelly, outsloped DH like San Juan, Golden Eagle, Hahn or Lower Holy Jim and I just scoot along at a comfortable pace, holding up other riders. Put me on a bike park jump trail and I turn every table top into two little jumps - a jump onto the table and a jump off.

And climber? Bottom five on this forum. Proven over and over again. Ask my last riding partners @mountaingirl sara, @buggravy and @Obsidian - or the ones just before that - @bvader @Bill @rossage or @Danimal Thus my surprise at your continuing obsession with "rip your legs off' and "cripple you with cramps." Most of the people on this forum have already done that just by virtue of me joining their rides or vice versa. But hey - if the thought of picking low hanging fruit amuses you, carry on!

Nice try, but I back up my claims almost every ride! Especially on undulating terrain like Skyline or Palm Canyon. Left for dust... I seem to do OK on consistent-pitched, low gradient cloimbs for a while, like STT, but even there, most of my riding buds but some serious distance between me and them.

Yes, there are a few who post here that I can routinely beat up the hills in Aliso. I won't name names. :whistling: Well, I'll name one since he abandoned me... @Cougar!

That part's definitely great, but every route I've ever seen published for anything has the disclaimer that the elevation numbers are - how you say - less than reliable. :whistling:
Well @Mikie and I have used it numerous times to plan some adventure rides and they’ve all been painful, fun and the search and rescue guys haven’t had to come look for us so that’s good enough for me:Roflmao. Oh and they’ve all been riddled with an appropriate number of gates and fences to make things interesting and just a little nervous and give us something good to laugh about later...:speechless:

strava is nice... I've had it for a few years and its good to see where you been, what you done, etc.. I use it alot to remember the trails... where to go.. find new trails.. etc..
Yeah, I like the data. It's particularly useful to keep track of mileage on each bike so I can accurately confess to the LBS just how far I've blown by the recommended service intervals when I take it in for an issue I can't fix.

I geek out on the mileage, elevation, and even times more than I'd like to admit, though I don't ever think about my Strava times when I'm actually riding. It's just cool to see how what feels fast (or slow) correlates to actual speed.

Ok, ok... he wasn't the zippiest up the hills. But he did have tenacity, and was known to accomplish the occasional death march.

Exhibit A: Cocktail Rock at mile 27ish. Half way through the ride...

Miss you guys, and the riding in SoCal something fierce.

Ya, I was a Sh!t climber. The definition of tortoise. But you are damned right about tenacity. I also was a decent blind rider; I remember when the four of us (three in the photo + @herzalot ) hit Palm Canyon and was doing well on the downs having never ridden them before. Would race Enduro that way too (mostly cause I couldn't afford the time off to go up early enough to pre-ride, lol).

Cheers friends :)

You're supposed to be giving us all the insider info on the riding around St. George.;)

Yup - @Cougar - you got faster downhill over the years we rode together, and you were more willing to give 'er on blind descents than I was - meaning trails we've never ridden. And yup, you could death march without cramping - whether it was slow or not was immaterial.

And look, I only had to call you out to get you to resurface here! ;) Nice hearing from you.

Miss you, little brother! :(
