Fun fact about Russian Rivers Pliny The Younger (and Elder! both top shelf IPA's).....

One of my favorite local IPA's (and easier to find than the Pliny's) is Golden Roads 'Wolf Among Weeds'

Very hoppy and citrusy and relatively smooth for a double IPA (IMO)

Well, now for today's lesson kids....the wild growing hop plant was originally identified and categorized in Europe by a Roman author, philosopher and naturalist who named the plant "Humulus Lupulus" (Latin) which literally translates to 'Wolf Among Weeds' because the plant was so aggressive and overtook all of the other plants growing around it! The name of the Roman naturalist was none other than Pliny the Elder! (Pliny the Younger's uncle, who raised Younger)
Now you know, and can share this profound information with your beer snob buddies, the next time you are hoisting a few! :p

Gaius Plinius Secundus (AD 23/24 – AD 79), called Pliny the Elder (/ˈplɪni/),[1] was a Roman author, naturalist, natural philosopher, and naval and army commander of the early Roman Empire, and a friend of the emperor Vespasian. He wrote the encyclopedic Naturalis Historia (Natural History), which became an editorial model for encyclopedias. He spent most of his spare time studying, writing, and investigating natural and geographic phenomena in the field.

Got home from my ride this afternoon to find my wife crying because the cheaply made mail order desk I told her not to buy wasn’t coming together properly.
Then my parents came over and my mom stressed me out messing with my plants and giving unsolicited plant advice while I tried to play with my niece.

now the wife’s gone to a work thing, kid’s working and my parents just left with my niece.

so, yeah, this pizza port spring thrills is really hitting the spot.
