Beer ...I Drank Some.

Stronger beer that's extremely bitter makes you a more manly man, I guess. IPA guys seem to measure their worth in "bitterness" units.

Belgians and Germans disagree.

My point is that IPA is so ridiculously trendy and hipster, it seems you have to like it to be considered cool. Your comments exemplify that sentiment.

I guess I've been a hipster since before it was even a thing! Been drinking bitter hopped beers since the 90's when I wasn't even 21, started with Sierra Nevada Celebration Ales every year and then started reading up on beers in between studying at Barnes and Noble in college.

I like all kinds of beer and have been homebrewing for several years which is when you really start trying new things. I just really like hopped beers and a lot of the better IPAs aren't as bitter as you'd think but I ain't trying to convince anyone to drink anything.. Just like I shouldn't feel like a sheep for drinking it just because it's so easy to generalize things as what "hipsters" or "millenials" are into and anyone who likes what they like are just following a trend.

I'd say wearing certain color combos that are currently "in" with the enduro crowd could be viewed as something to do for the cool factor, caring what other people think. What I am putting down my throat is not influenced by nor an attempt to follow any kind of crowd.

Also, to really follow what's cool you should be drinking sours. That's the current "trendy" style. Come to Tustin Brew Co some time and you'll find a bunch of old dudes drinking IPAs, really not the scene you'd expect.

Now back to staring at the clock until I can drink some IPAs this afternoon!

The Belgians actually understand that beer should have taste that you can taste. Trappist ales such as Chimay are proof of that.

The Germans are a lost cause.

It's kinda like recommending a certain type of partner to someone...everyone has their own preferences and will resist the suggestion of something different.

Personally I can't stomach lager or pilsner because they are too bland. Others swear by them. My beer has to have taste. And preferably not the taste of formaldehyde. Plus, if you have to put a lime in it it must not taste very good on its own.

To each their own.

Por eso estamos como estamos!

Well I'm going to delete all my post, not part of the cool crowd. I look for and enjoy trying new pilsners and shy away from IPAs. Have not acquired a taste and do not want to spend my time trying to acquire a taste. A nice cold kronenbourg while mowing the lawn is a perfect afternoon.
What? A singlespeeder who doesn't drink IPA? Shame on you! ;)

(And glad to hear it!)

Whenever Im with my father he is good for always wasting one of my IPA/Stout beers. Tasting them, showing his bitter beer face, then mocking the swill I drink. I gave him a Pilsner one day and it knocked his socks off, he loves em.

Ooooooh, red turning things must mean a Wolf. Nice taste in ovens too.
Food tastes better when cooked with red knobs!

You would not believe just how elegantly that Wolf warms up a can of soup, or maybe a cheese sandwich (the extent of my culinary expertise)!
