An ebikes first for me...

ebikes don't grind my gears the same way the boost standard being introduced the same year I bought my non-boost Bronson.

Does anyone here ride specifically for the workout aspect of it? I don't know anyone who rides simply to work out. Everyone I know who has gotten into cycling for the fitness aspect has never stuck around long. I do get that burning calories is one of the benefits, but a gym membership is cheaper and more effective for getting shredded like a julienne salad. I suppose when I got back into mountain biking, I was really into cross-fit type work outs, so any type of cycling could never stand in as a replacement. If I rode, I still did a separate work out that day.

Riding just brings me back to a simpler time. Everything I've been stressing about melts away as I realize I've just been making it a bigger deal than it needed to be. This is probably why ebikes will never bother me so long as people are polite regardless if they're on two wheels, have a dog, or riding a horse. The only issue I see is the congestion factor. When I rode the FLoop this past Sunday, it was relatively empty at 6am. By 8am, it was a mad house. I opted to ride on the street when I finished rather than re-trace parts of the trail home.

Back to the workout aspect, now that I'm a fat dad, I need any exercise I can get... mountain biking counts! :Roflmao

I ride w a group of high schoolers sometimes and they scoff at e bikes...
...
We were about to climb Matthias.. when a kid w dad was resting.. an e biker went past.. the kid yelled u r cheating!!!

Rides like the Pioneertown 50 are packed with high school kids, and they are awesome to see! The cool thing is that I've seen all levels out there... spandex hammerheads and casual young ladies just turning the pedals.

When we're gone, there will be a group to take our places. They won't all smoke the E.

I love seeing the local High Sxhool teams giving ebiker a crap on trails.

Can we do it in person? Where they’re legal...

When I say something you don't like, just hit the gas and rooster tail me... :p

I have to work out to maintain my health. I used to be a swimmer, but swimming laps is boring as crap. Then I started running, but running is really hard on the joints. A friend introduced me to mountain biking, and it offers all the cardio benefits of running with the added thrill factor of technical descents and a chance to get out into the wilderness. So I don't ride only to work out, but there are days that I force myself to ride because I need to work out.

I only jumped in here because I was soooo surprised at how much this must take from the skill and fitness aspect, much the same as a stand up jet ski and a Sea Doo boat, two completely different animals. I road a E about 3 years ago when they were really a new thing, it surly did not have the power this Spesh E did! IMHO there is no argument for exercise, it’s only because they have been told that and it’s what they want to hear and believe. I can’t argue with fun and getting outdoors though.

I grew up mowing my parent's 3.5 acre lot with a push mower. It took so much time that I had to break the job into three separate tasks - front lawn, back lawn, side lawn - and rotate days. It was quite a workout - even when I was a teenage!

We now have almost 4 acres of land in North Carolina, so I just bought my first lawn tractor. Let me tell you... mowing the lawn sitting in a lawn tractor is a completely different experience :) The only workout involved is when I have to stop to refill my ice water!
