Advertisers on imtbtrails

For several years now I have used Google Adsense and Amazon's Affiliate Program in effort to cover costs of maintaining the Site.
Google this last January made it extremely difficult to use this simple click and get paid service by adding a ton of pop-up disclaimers jargon to "protect the public" both in the USA and European Countries. Many have dropped using Adsense or are still hanging on with the old system until they get shut down forced to comply with the January 2024 new standards.
Amazon has always given me Sh!t that I'm not in compliance for whatever bizarre reason. Plus, most members do not think to use the imtbtrails gateway to get to Amazon to make their purchases, even if it costs them nothing to allow imtbtrails to be that gateway.

I've added a Venmo link at the top of the home page in hopes that membership will feel compelled to donate to imtbtrails to contribute to the monthly overhead.

I do not think I will use Google Adsense anymore, however I may try Amazon one more time. Just a matter of jumping through all the hoops and embedding all the dumbazz code and crud I have to figure out again...

I appreciate any donations as well as rest assured those funds are exclusive to the maintenance of the imtbtrails forum.

I broke down and added back AdSense. I gave up on Amazon.
It’s been a 3 day pain in the ass process due to having to meet new EUA requirements for European Countries.
I have added it at the bottom of most pages and don’t want to tick anyone off if I add it to the top. I hate seeing ads, but even I click on them from time to time due to interest.

The goal is to attempt to generate revenue that assists the site to sustain itself… even if it only generates half the financial upkeep. Many of you have been fantastic to support the Site and I was shocked to see non members contribute as well so I am simply looking forward to future upkeep revenues.

As always, your comments, criticisms, sarcasm, snide remarks, and praise are always welcome!

I have yet to see an ad on iMtbtrails, but figure if you say they’re coming that’s cool w/ me as long as they aren’t auto play vids.

But then once I found out the personal info tech is harvesting I use a VPN and cross app cookie blocker by default. So there is that.
As example, 56,698 tracking attemps across 34 apps in 7 days blocked. Most of the apps I don’t even use and am unable to uninstall. I’m guessing the companies keep trying cause they don’t get through. Below is one example ( moreis you could scroll) but there are companies trying to harvest info that I’ve never heard of.

The good thing is that the most those sneaky snake bots who crawl the site could obtain from here is your name, age, whatever location you put in which is pretty vague, and your email address. And they would need to hack the system to get that. They would need to hack my password and good luck doing THAT!
I keep a pretty close eye on bots who claim to be people and delete them as spam, after violating their post and image and making fun of them.

Google screens and monitors imtbtrails and the vendors who advertise using AdSense. I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get qualified. They inspect every Thread for acceptable content to ensure we are not violating their standards:

Google monitors AdSense publishers to ensure they comply with their policies and terms and conditions. If publishers don't comply, Google may:Suspend or terminate their account, Withhold payment, Not display ads on their sites, and Disable ad serving on certain pages.

Google also has certification policies for third-party ad networks and vendors that serve ads on AdSense. These policies include:

  • Third parties can't associate cookies with personal user information without the user's consent
  • Third parties must have a way for users to opt out of tracking mechanisms

Google AdSense also pre-screens ads for quality and relevance.
