Year End 2024 - New Year 2025

Well typically there is a thread where all the Hooligans post their year end summaries. Usually it's something like miles, vertical feet climbed, numbers of rides or new places. Sometimes it's other life accomplishments.

And maybe some of you are still foolish enough to make new goals for the upcoming year - be they personal or bike related.

So whachu got? Wow us with your tales of trail trials, triumphs and tribulations. Or post a goal for the upcoming year.

Let's see - I did about 32 rides this year. skied 5 times, tried to surf 6 times, had two surgeries and spent three months recovering from those surgeries.

I watched 4,263 water polo matches (or something like that).

I kept my job and my family. All are healthy.

I lost a dear college friend and teammate to cancer. I lost some other friends to politics and/or my sometimes-irritating attempts at humor.

I didn't buy any bikes.

How do you lose people to politics? There probably aren't two people more diametrically opposed than you and me, but you haven't lost me.

Flabbergasted, confused, combobulated, sure. But lost? Whaaaaaa?

How do you manage that?

I didn’t break any bones or have any hospital visits.
I did ride in Utah and Alberta so there’s that.

Ask @Obsidian. He seems to have disappeared. I lost another friend when we were sparring via text - I thought we were doing so in a light-hearted, not-serious manner, she didn't think so. Not the first time I've had text conversations get misinterpreted, so perhaps my New Year's resolution will be to be more careful with my text conversations.

Welp I'm thinking about my New Year's resolutions. I really fell off this year. Believe it or not I still want to be on my bike more in 2025. I'm hoping this will be the year I wheelie. I want to get on my mountain bike much more. I still like watching trail rides on YT. I think Bonelli Park looks like fun for me, not too crazy. I have some new parts I want to swap on my bike. Some parts I've had for years? I hope to consistently get out on the pump track. Ultimately greatly increase my stamina and skill on my bikes.

According to STRAVA:
-I did 70 rides
-I rode my bike for 98 hours this year
-Rode only 648 miles ( an all time low)
-Climbed 68,999 feet of elevation gain (another low)

Had 2 surgeries:
-Plated and pinned a broken ankle
-Arthroscopic on my left knee replacement to remove scar tissue
-Yet still found time to drop an 8 ft Huck and tear my rotator cuff! Yay!

-Started a YouTube channel
-Retired
-Celebrating 33 years of marriage

I drank less beer (because @Voodoo Tom didn't come out to visit this year)

2025:
- Lose 23 lbs
-Ride more, get injured less
-Taking over as Worship Team Drummer since ours is moving to New Zealand
- Hug my wife more, even though I hug her a lot

I’m sure I’m missing something…

I mean, how f@cking gay are you? Can an actual man take a freakin' holiday break from a **** forum during the freaking holidays? Jeez dude, get off my jock.

Not sure how I left ... unless we believe our resident MSNBC shill Chris. Never a good idea, BTW.

To be fair @Mikie it is always nice to see you 'round here @ donation time. We miss you the other 11 months.

Oh yeah, now in black background, but still no Paypal link :(

Funny story about a text exchange that ended with a rescinded text meant for a barney, and not a peep since.

A paltry 746 miles and 110,199 ft for me. That said, I'm happy with the trajectory of things. Almost 600 of those 746 miles came from July 1 until now, and just over 450 of those were on the single speed. The single speed was really the story of my year, and lit a fire under me again. I'd dwindled down to riding 2-3 times a month, and am back to a consistent twice a week. 2 new bikes this year that I'm incredibly pleased with. Starting the year off with a big ride today. Happy New Year, Hooligans!

It would be nice to say the same about you. However, you have done an outstanding job of presenting yourself as a dick. Congrats! :) What you apparently consider humor is just plain rude to most on the site.

Lowest stat year in a while for me. I need to fix that in 2025! First full-time year in AZ has been an adjustment but we’re really liking it here. I still haven’t found a good consistent group to ride with, but I will have to work on that.

Yeah, I need to ride more and recover less from blunders on the trail.
2025 is going to be the year of ride more, ride more miles, and ride more miles safer with less risk taking. It’s not as fun, but you have less medical expenses, less arm chair time, and more pedal spinning.
