This little guy came right towards me, scratched a bed for himself and laid down. Poor quality picture because it was almost dark.

My friend that lives on the other side of the hill has been seeing 2 Diamond backs (not the bike) a week on his ranch. It's early in the season to see them according to him.
He showed me pictures and videos of the last one. Beeeutiful markings, about 2-2 1/2" across, and 48" long. They are getting some well fed and large ones over there. Some are up to 5' long.

Young boy attacked by a Mtn Lion at Tapia park in Malibu Cyn, on 1 Sep. The lion treed itself and the rangers killed it. I tell you those are lions that live in the local mountains.

Saw a Bobcat come off the trail and crossed the street to my neighbor's front yard today.

For those riding Black Star, Skyline, or Coal Canyon - keep in mind that the vast majority of habitat in the Santa Anas is now gone, so guess where deer, bobcats, and the big kitties are going.....

Saw this little guy on the Aliso Creek Bike Trail last night.
10-12" long or so, not as big around as a #2 pencil, hard to make out coloration or pattern in the dark.

Not even safe from wildlife on the road

Not exactly wild.
Went to my friends place to test out my reloads at his shooting range.... on paper targets.
There is 30-40ish head on his place.
He did say I can use his Bobcat and make whatever mtb trails I want on his place. I can put a nice riding area on his 160 ac., like I don't have enough to do at my place.

I find that range cattle make nice trails although they are a bit soft. They make excellent contour trails.

I call them cowpie trails.
Now, deer trails are something else. They make triple black diamond trails. Don't ask me how I know. Lol
