I've honestly never ridden from SCST to Trestles, but I believe there is a dirt trail from SCST to the old frontage road after crossing under the 5. Once you get there, you go straight on pavement to Uppers and Cottons or turn left and ride pavement a bit until you find the dirt spur that goes to Middles and Lowers.

EDIT: Looking at satellite images, maybe I'm wrong. It looks more like the trail goes from the San Mateo Campground parallel to Christianitos and then drops down to the 5. So never mind. Follow @bvader's STRAVA instead.

From Dog Park to Trestles is 95% dirt

Non Dirt

Crossing Christianitos To San Mateo Campground (actually be careful crossing the road fast cars and a dip in the road)

About a quarter mile in San Mateo campground is paved But very little traffic. Bathrooms and water if you need it.

And then after you cross under the 5, the last quarter mile down to trestle's is on paved path... Surfers and e-bikes.

Otherwise everything is dirt
