Fire Season Stuff

The final bullet point on the (missing from above) second page is telling...

- Why did the CNF refuse to accept OCFA's offer to staff your fire stations at no cost?

How absolutely incompetent do they need to be before someone loses their feckin job?

Went to Maple Springs just to see what was going on there. The Private Security Guard I talked with told me that Maple Springs, Harding and San Juan trailheads all have personnel in place 24/7. He told me that he has turned away a whole lot of bike riders.

The fire looks to be currently stopped right below Clarks/Skyline intersection in Big Bear, but in Angelus Oaks the SART is gone if the map is correct.
Post Office Loop in particular looks to be a thing of memory. My go-to "mountain" ride. Hwy 38 on the bottom of the image below, and Middle Control Rd. is at the 6:00 going to the upper right. I'm hoping it's not a total moon-scape, but prepared for the worst...

Where did you get this from? CNF website still has no change, but their use of the website sucks.

I got it from the OCMTBA Instagram group. They seem to be on top of things. If you have IG, I recommend following them.

I don't have time to find it right now, but they posted something yesterday showing their communication with the ranger where it definitely sounds like everything up to and including The Luge will be open very soon.

Crused by Maple Springs yesterday at sunset just to see if anything had changed. Found a USFS fire engine sitting in the parking area. Probably because of the Santa Ana winds warning. Too bad they weren't so concerned about suppression before the fire started.

Unfortunately, my client's home is right in the middle of that isolated burn section between the 118 and 101. I'm sick to my stomach waiting to hear from her.
Update: At 11:10pm last night, a fireman was banging on her front door. She had to leave immediately. She only had the clothes on her back and she was only able to grab one of her two cats. She said that was raining red embers everywhere outside her home. From what she has seen in images today, she thinks that her home was saved but there is currently no way to confirm that. She is expecting an update tomorrow. :(

The spousal unit is going to visit her brother at St. John's hospital in Camarillo near 118 and 34 today thru Sunday.
Looks like she will have to use 126 to 101 to get there since alot of the 118 is closed.
