Music... I Listened to Some

Has anyone browsed around on The Midnight Special channel on YouTube? Lots of great stuff, and it was all actually done live unlike lots of television show performances from the 70s. There are some videos of Steely Dan from a 1973 airing. Worth checking out if you haven't already.

Donald Fagen in all his awkwardness. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter just absolutely killing it on the lead guitar. Porky and Bucky are like their own side show on the background vocals. The camera rarely catches a glimpse of Walter Becker as he hides in the back playing bass.

This obviously goes way back to when they were trying to be an actual band. Long before it became just Donald and Walter in the studio with the best session musicians in the business.

Anyway, worth a look. The channel is a treasure trove of great performances from the 70s.

You forgot Johnette and Juliana.
Good point! I met Juliana when I was a sound guy at the Rocket Club in Providence, RI back in 1986. The Blake Babies were just getting started. This of course prior to the JH Three, her time in the Lemonheads, and her solo career. The Blake Babies were awesome! I’ve been a Juliana fan all along the way. Coincidentally, I just landed in Boston as I write this.
