I Rode My eBike Today…

Rode today and plan to ride every day until surgery. Most likely that will be scheduled towards end of next week.
On 4/10 I hit a jump at bottom of Space Mtn, the table top by parking lot, only to find the landing was not there anymore. Somebody dug out the table top leaving 2 big open holes.

Yes - please spill the deets, @Bluesrider

Hope it's nothing major!

Yes surgery.
Rotator Cuff: Full-thickness near full width tearing of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus retracted to the AC joint. Mild tendinosis of the subscapularis. No muscle edema or significant atrophy.

Biceps Tendon: Mild partial tearing with a longitudinally oriented tear component extending along the biceps tendon within the intertubercular groove.

See Doc on Thursday and see how quick he gets me in. Weird thing is I have zero pain just limited range in my arm. Can still ride with no discomfort, just fear of falling on my right side.

Ooooof. Best wishes for a skilled hand and a speedy return to better-than-before!

OH yeah, btw, just got a new Garmin with accident detection. It went off on both my rides this weekend.
First time I got to my bike and figured it out fast enuff to cancel the text notifications.
Second time I just missed the countdown.
But it gives you the option to send "I'm OK" texts soon after.
Good thing I told my contacts not to freak out right away if they get an alert!

my new Garmin has that feature, don’t think I have it turned on as I didn’t get any alerts. Perhaps I should turn it on, but I don’t plan on crashing anymore.

My iPhone does the same. Slow speed getoff once - all I did was step off the bike and the bars hit the ground while my hand was on the bars. I had to figure out why it was vibrating and how to cancel. It also thinks I fell when I slam my van door to close it.
Too sensitive for sure.

I hate it when that happens. So If I have not ridden a trail in a while I will circle them to make sure no changes I do not like. My buddy Ron broke his collar bone on a landing like that.
Quick healing after surgery. Keep us posted.

My iwatch does the same thing. On quick stops Or going from high speed to a quick stop it goes off. A bit annoying. I have to hit the mode button to stop it. I think if I set it to an activity it works better but that's something else I gotta remember. :gotnothing:

Thanks for the Well wishes everyone. Surgery is May 1st and they say 6-9 months for full recovery. Doc suggest the 6 months for sure off the bike so I don’t crash and rip everything apart. Gonna be a tough summer, besides Cabo in May, we were in the planning stages for 3 weeks in Europe this summer. Was planning to do a guided Alps Mtb trip or 2 while there. Guess I’ll wait until next year.

That sucks but at least it is getting taken care of. Good luck with the surgery.
P-12 trails are good in October too. Come on up when you are back on the bike.

Dayummmm - that's way harder than what I just went through! Best wishes! You got this.

I've had three or four falls (including one or two on MC's) over the years that resulted in me not being able to raise my arm higher than a few inches above my waist, but didn't cause discomfort when riding, so I just waited and (AIR) they healed over the course of a year or so. I guess that must be a partial tear (never went to a doctor to find out). Bummer, but heal rapidly and well.

The Bomb Squade went out to Vail to session the new OG enduro trail that just opened up. Some fun tricky stuff up there. About a 3 ft rock drop half way down. A little hard on the landing. Not sure why. Hit it 3 times then rode it all the way out the Ridgeline to Marlin then down Marlin to a slingshot loop. Jason and Frank had to bail so I climbed back up and dropped Matco by myself. Great morning out in the dirt. Short vids and picks here.

Nope, didn’t ride my ebike as my recovery is many months away. But Orbea just came out with the new Rise LT, newer version of my 2023 Rise, but with 85nm 630w battery with models 43 lbs and down to mid 30’s. So generally a full power ebike with SL weight. Frame upgrades and longer travel to 150r/160f. Gives me something to think about while healing up.

Looks nice! Considering how fast technology is changing with e-bikes, this one could be outdated when you are ready to ride post-surgery!
