YETI SB6C

Yikes. I love YETI but this is pretty bad. They are gonna need to do some serious damage control.

If you are referring to the cracked composite swing arm... that will be remedied quickly. What caught my eye was that the focus is on descending and not on climbing which begins to erode my thoughts of this being a great All Mountain/Enduro ride, which I would be looking for...

The older sb66 was such a good all round bike the push for a 160mm down hill rig pushed it out of a great all around bike for me as well.
I would say they got some damage control that needs to be done as well at least they owned up to it some.

All I can think about looking at that frame is what a pain it would be to clean that bottom bracket area.

It would be pretty slick if they had come up with a removable cover to keep the dust and mud out.

The switch infinity mechanism and mud is probably not an issue with this frame. If it were, Graves and Rude wouldn't be killing everybody on it. Many had the same response upon seeing the "rail" on Yeti's DH bikes (based on nothing but their assumption that it will be a problem). I owned one and it was problem free. The long term tests in magazines confirmed that they had no issues.

The problem with the SB6c is the broken frames in that pre-production run. Bike magazine's Bible of Bike tests had the same problem - twice. I have no doubt that what Conroy is saying is true - that they have fixed the problem - but when there are so many great bikes, this is really unfortunate for them and will cut into bike sales. I know that Graves and Rude put 100x more pressure on their swingarms than the average good rider, so maybe that will help people feel comfortable buying one. Those guys wouldn't risk their results or their well-being on a frame they don't trust.

That said, I may just wait until the Warden-c...

Knolly is gnarly but Yeti is Ready... Come back! Come back to the Tribe! Look deeeeep into my eyes....
I'll get you a Yeti deal that's hard to refuse. Not impossible, but definitely difficult to pass up. We could be Yeti Bro's...

Dude, Conroy and I have been pen pals since 2008 and I got my DH bike from Rich Houseman. Got me a Yeti shirt signed by Grubby Graves himself. Yeah, that's right - I'm name droppin' like it's hot. I've done hung with the Yeti boyz (and girlz) in their Golden HQ - I love the Tribe and all they stand for...but they never offered me a deal or a coveted Ambassador title. Then along came Knolly... I'm such a slut.

Now, in the spirit of slutness, what kind of a deal are you talkin?

A Warden C (carbon) doesn't exist yet, but here's the Warden. Don't judge it by its looks. Dig around on the website or beyond.

Looked pretty slippery, amazing how those guys handled it! Not a fan of the bikes looks, but it handles it when they bring it.

@herz....Yoooooooooooooo sssssssssslut!
I'll send you some info tomorrow..... ;)

Pinkbike is blowing up faster than a Yeti rear triangle over this debacle. Lots of unhappy stories coming out of the woodwork regarding broken rear triangles (aluminum and carbon) and poor customer service. Mind you, it is the interweb, so "piling on" is common, but sheesh - this is a nightmare for Conroy.

Yeah, the Knolly isn't the sexiest looking bike out there, but their reputation is flawless. They build their bikes for some serious abuse over time, and they work very well. They won't win many races, but they will last more than a year even ridden by the most aggressive riders in the least forgiving conditions. I'm not sure if many of the carbon $10,000 bikes are built as well.

I don't understand why the Switch infinity linkage design looks so complex to others. Looks like a single pivot to me, except the the swing link forces the swingarm to slide up the rails at its apex (furthest point away from the swingarm pivot). There's two rails to keep the rear end "yaw" to a minimum.

If you know single pivots, a higher pivot leads to more anti-squat and more pedal kickback and a lower pivot leads to less anti-squat and less pedal kickback, and this design gets you the best of both worlds, good pedaling when its high in it's travel, and less of the high pivot side-effects with more active suspension deeper in its stroke. Brilliant design, IMO.

I can still get a crazy good price on Yeti's if we buy 3 or more at the same time...
I'll PM you.
