Wrightwood… Wait? What? Nope! Meet at Newcome Ranch!

The fee at Jackson Lake and a few other spots like Baden Powell TH is one I'd complain about. We already have to pay for an Adventure Pass at many places in Socal forests. But now ANF has let a concessionaire take over Jackson Lake, Grassy Hollow, Baden Powell and a few other spots. You now have to pay a separate fee for those spots. Adventure pass does not cover them. It's not a huge amount, similar cost to Adventure Pass, but it's just one more fee to access our own public land. And yes I think you can still park on the road without paying either.

If the lot has water and a reasonably clean bathroom, then the parking fee is acceptable to me if not too much $.

And Most places charge for parking at events when you already paid for admission! Now that is crooked and sucks big time in my book. And not to mention they most likely way over charge for snacks and beer.

I spent $80 per year, for a several years, for the "America the Beautiful" pass. It covers National Park entry fees, national forest amenties (except for campsite fees), BLM access where necessary - and it DOES cover all the "Adventure Pass " fees in National Forests.

I use mine everywhere, hang it on the rearview when I park at Silverado Canyon/Maple Spring gate...and now they've given me a lifetime veteran pass. I'd still pay for it if they didn't.

Just saw this!

I wanted to go poach that today. But the weather here was really good this morn.
Settled for 18 miles of ST and a lil SOT instead!

What is the skinny on parking? I see Jackson Lake charges $10 for access. Do I need to buy an Angeles forest parking pass? Where do I get such information?

FYI: National public free day is Sep 28th

 The town of Wrightwood yes. The insignificant town of Wrightwood.
How dare you sir! Wrightwood is a cool little town with a couple of great bars, restaurants and a cool coffee / pastry / sandwich / wine / beer shop called Village Grind. I stop there after every Mt. High ski/snowboard day. And the gas is way cheaper in Wrightwood than anywhere in Orange County including Costco. Go figure.

Wonder how many will be on Mopeds?
.
If you beat the fishermen there, looks like plenty of shade on the lake side of the road around noon. At the East end of the lake. May be able to tailgate and throw out some chairs to save some spots? There is also the group camp adjacent to the lake parking area, I bet we could move in there after the ride if its shady and empty.

Bring bug spray , maybe head nets. Or always be moving 6mph or more.

All the water crossings on Leppy are rideable. I made all but one log Xing, didnt try any skinnies.

Depends on how many loops you wanna do? Or just how much riding I have gotten in previously. Most likely.
