Been wanting to build a "bigger" bike, 150-160 ish , just because I dont have one.
Looking at Rail 29 or a Pivot but kinda refuse to spend over $3K for a frame.
Especially because I probably wont ride it much.

Along comes this ARC8 Extra, $1800 with a Float X2. And its a light frame.

Besides being a 3 year old model and probably not much resale value, why not?

Talk me out of it....

Just do it!

I have my 2017 E29 frame (160mm) that I keep as a backup in case I ever break my carbon frame (2018 is nearly identical). You could probably find a 17-18 generation frame used for way less than $1800. Or any other number of frames with similar geo.

All these years later, I am still in love with my 2018 E29.

Stumpy Evo is pretty nice. A very light frame for the capability. Great internal storage and adjustability. Standover is a little tall and bike pedals ok, but not DW like. Overall descending and handling is great. There is a guy in OC who seems to have a nice deal on an S-Works Stumpy Evo, S4, white/black, Fox 38, Fox coil, Fox dropper and more at about $3300. If I didn't have the Pivot, I'd be taking a look at it for sure.

Thanks, I did see that. It has a few scratches and chain slap. Along with the coil and Fox 38, it makes me think he rode it hard.....
.
S4 would be my size tho, right? 2021 and 2022 are the same frame?

Yes, S4 unless you want to downsize to a relatively small size medium (S3). I've owned both and I am liking smaller bikes now. I have an S3 Levo but the S3 Stumpy Evo is noticeably smaller--too small for me to be comfortable. Some makers are upsizing their frames. I got a a medium Firebird and it fits fantastically. The large has grown to be too big this generation.

Yea. My 130 was a LR from the beginning. Came with a 160. I took that bike to multiple rowdy rides in Crested Butte and it was fabulous. I probably should have kept it. Mine was a medium too. Pedaled well. Comfortable, Great descender. And still not too big as to feel lethargic at a place like Tapia.

Did you put a 160 fork on your LR SB130? Thats the direction I'm thinking of going now. Changes ever day. :)
