What happened to the jeep on STT?

I rode up there today and didn't see it. Did it get lifted out or fall further down the canyon or something?

I'm guessing it fell far enough down that you can't see it.
But hey, maybe it got hauled out!

From the high point above the flag you can see a bright spot about half way down the hill where the jeep went over. I've always assumed that was it.
but then, we know what "assume" means.....

I didn't stop and look for it too much. I gave a glance when I came around the turn and when I didn't see it I assumed it was still up ahead. I realized I had passed it when the trail got wide not too far up ahead.

On a side note, I did Whiting/STT/that added climb/Luge today and had a blast. Warm, but not too hot. Whiting was packed with the poker ride and everyone looked like they were having a great time.

There was a new large scar (almost too steep to climb on foot) just past the base gate entry to Cadillac off Trabuco Canyon when we were picking up trash about a month ago, littered with a lot of jeep parts (body, dash, fenders, an alternator)...don't know if that debris was from that particular jeep or maybe another one tried to make it up there and failed spectacularly.

I rode STT two weeks ago, and "the" Jeep has slid pretty far down. You have to stop and look to see it...

I can see Cadillac from my house, and there are 4x4 knuckleheads up there just about every weekend. I haven't gone up Cadillac in a year or so... The top half is all HAB for me. Maybe it's time for another trip.

I remember seeing the first pictures of the jeep when it happened but didnt see it in person. Is it right near STT and the top of Cadillac? Do yo have to go down Cadillac to actually see it?

I'm not sure of the distance, but I usually reach the Jeep about 10-15 minutes after I pass the turnoff for the Luge. It's long before Cadillac... The trail gave out where it went over, and it's even more eroded now. I took this October 2013. The jeep is now a lot farther down the hill.

I might need to take a ride tomorrow and look for Jeeps... I can see two sets of lights plain as day on Cadillac from my bedroom window. They have been in the same spot for quite a while... Knuckleheads!

The path around the gate at the bottom entrance is comical... The gate is quite secure. The foliage to the right of the gate was not.

Did I run into you in Oneil at the top of Vista a few weeks back on a mid-day mid week ride? I talked to someone up there for a bit who said the same thing.
