Turned a corner climbing and saw a bear skedaddle up a slope. I spent the rest of my climb randomly yelping and singing. On the DH an hour or so later about 50 feet in front of me a mountain lion was trotting away from me down the trail. Big tail. Big cat. I slammed brakes and yelped at it all the Pritsies I could muster. I walked backwards to a fork and took another route to a road and re-entered the Canyon a few miles down the trail. Freakin’ spooked tonight and afraid to ride solo out there. Oh, and the nasty, hairy, pulsating orb weaver spiders in the middle of the trail right at face level are the worst of all. What a night!

Sounds awesome, but, not on a solo mission.

Scary! How many lumens you running? 2 bar lights and a head light?

Yeah - no... Good for you for your dedication to get the riding in despite the critters and other challenges of riding at night. Stay safe, please.

Happy anniversary! I hope you’re still out there!

I’ll be a bachelor for several days starting Monday afternoon. I’m looking for some mild MTB company. I can do day or night all week but would have to plan around my conference calls, so throw out some dates/times if you dare.

A jaunt to Potato Mountain or up and back Monroe Truck Trail…I’m not looking for anything technical right now, and the pace will be sluggish. If you are interesting some interval training, join me, climb to the summit, turn around and ride a circle around me, talk some smack, and see how many intervals you can do before I make it to Potato or GMR.

Glad to hear that you're returning to riding status.
