Going to my buddy's demo today to check out some of his newest creations. He tells me of Iris+ with follow me. Apparently you wear a wrist band and the drone tracks and films your ride. Sounds pretty cool to me. Will report back later.

from what I've heard the drones don't have much battery life maybe 15 minutes.

He tells me it's all about how much weight it is carrying. He says his heavy lifter will carry 5 pounds for 25 minutes.

At the Surf City Marathon last Sunday, there was a very impressive drone filming at the starting line. It was still semi-dark at 6:30 and it had very visible red & green running lights. Later in the race, I saw it above the runners (not me) on PCH. The runners were hurting bad and when they looked up at the drone, they suddenly forgot how much they were hurting and started smiling and waving. Very cool.

I met some guys who were flying DJI drones and they could get about 15 mins max flying time. They were using light wt. cameras, smaller than gopros to help use less battery.
The drone you're talking about must have a great battery!

Having second thoughts of testing the Iris with the follow me function. This is what happens when drones attack.

Holy moly! The kid down the block has a fancy drone and gets some cool shots. I've thought it would be cool to have him film me when I ride, but after seeing your mishap, that option is completely off the table.

My buddy builds drones for the movie industry. And of course whoever else would like one. The mishap was with one of his bigger drones. I think the smaller ones are relatively harmless.
