My first boogie board was a Morey Mach 20 RS with retractable skags. Wish I still had it.

In the early to mid 70's us kids used to use inflatable rafts that were about 2x3 feet in the surf at Stinson and Santa Cruz. They were blue with yellow rubber like ends for those who may remember. They had rope all the way around the perimeter.
They would fold up often in the waves. Spent many great summer days going over the falls in 3-5ft waves with those things
The first Boogie Boards were such a change.
We weren't smart enough to use fins yet, but those boards let us go over the falls so much better.
Lots of fun until I got to trying the stand up sport.

A surfer who invented something that has gotten sooo much grief from surfers everywhere.

Seems like he had a long, full life.
