Enjoyed the Ram's victory yesterday with the little lady, but some rat stole her, locked to Outback rack, pride and joy during the game. Now, she needs a new FS steed. Anybody been shopping for a light FS bike (she wants < 27 pound but is frugal (hopefully $3 - 4K) and have suggestions

Sorry for the loss. What a crappy feeling to find your stuff got jacked. I'm always prowling pinkbike for bikes so I'll keep an eye out.

Sorry to hear about it, Bob. Think of what it must be like to live like a scumbag. I'd much rather get stuff stolen from me. You still win. :geek:

Family member my foot. A new bike is going to blow her socks off. I suggest fudging the weight, it doesn't matter much or at all while riding. Forced upgrade, reasonable outcome. Have fun gearing up.

At her height it might require a little patience, but something will pop up that she'll like for her budget. My GF is 5'...extra smalls are hard to find!

My bike was stolen with part of the rack that it was bolted to at my work with a security guard present. By pure coincidence I was walking back from Del Taco as the thief was walking away with my bike and snatched in back. I got lucky with that lesson: bike locks only slow down the motivated or stop the unmotivated.

I'd open my mind to the plethora of great bikes that pedal excellently and are comfortable. Any modern bike will make her stolen one seem archaic. Carbon isn't really a weight saver now, so may as well look at alloy bikes to save $. Put weight farther down the checklist and you'll have choices galore. Bike weight really isn't a thing anymore, outside of racing. The used market can save a bunch, but isn't without some risk as I've demonstrated. (PayPal!) Someone is always selling his wife's S/XS barely-used bike. Despite two bunk sellers in a decade, I still look to pinkbike classsifieds when I don't want to pay full price. Patience wins the day.

There's a guy selling a brand new Yeti 115 frameset, white in color, size small on the YETI classifieds on Facebook.
