I thought I got stung by something a couple of weeks ago, on the outside of my calf. It was really not healing up, a bit annoying, and last night I felt an urgency to poke at it. Suddenly this 3/8" spike of a thorn just squirts out of my skin as though being finally expelled by my body. Whoa, I'm glad the weez got to see that weirdness! :sick::gag::cool:

Then I remembered that, once before , I had a smaller one also just spit out of my finger. Right through the surface of the nail where it went in.

Stoked that my body knows how to handle this riding debris... reject and eject :geek:

Been there, done that. Had the same thing happen on my shin. It was a surprise when weeks later the spear shot out of my leg.

I had a yucca tip in my shin for a while until it finally worked its way out, but the worst was a bougainvillea thorn.
Dropped off a fence barefoot into a boys fort behind the bush at a park, and got a thorn in my foot. Mom pulled out a half inch.
A couple of years later my foot started hurting bad. She ended up pulling out another half inch piece. :gag:

Haha! I washed out in a turn in Vegas last month and took a few cactus spikes in my hand through my glove and a Yucca spike in my shin. I did trail side surgery with pliers on my right hand with my uncoordinated left hand.:confused: The yucca spike I didn't find or notice until I got back to our trailer after I showered and was sitting on the couch and rubbed my leg felt it sticking out of my leg. It was like more than 3/8 inch deep in my leg! I have pics but I don't think they're that interesting.
 
I also have one that I wish would pop out. Spitting wood with my future father in-law when a piece of the wedge sheared off and took aim at my thigh. I thought it ricocheted until the blood started to spurt. This was around '85. Doctor said to leave it in (about 3/4" deep) and nature would expel it.

I forgot about it until my first MRI. Damn hunk of metal felt like it was 900° and getting pulled out of my skin. Yeah, I screamed like a little girl.

Subsequent MRI's are done VERY carefully.
