It might, but not by much. After the climb out of the Meadow at the end of Old San Juan back up to Cocktail Rock(CW) it’s a lot of rolling up and down. Going CCW after the initial descent, yiu are still dealing with all the rolling areas…and they feel like it’s more climbing.

When I used to ride the loop regularly, I can say without a doubt that I liked riding counter clockwise Best... Unless we were riding clockwise then I like that... Best!

I will say back in the day before we did that brushing up there that one time. Jay....

I was ripping through the rolly section after the meadows clockwise and it was really tight and brushy and I was flowing fast and leaning into the turns and a giant brush. Reached out and grabbed me and when my sight and head cleared I was down in and tangled under the brush and my bike was hanging from it...

I was not hurt but my buddy Mike took him a while to wipe the snot off his face from laughing so hard!

CCW is way better imo, chunky fun dh from CR down to the creek.

I like counterclockwise better also. Old San Juan is really fun but the downhill part is over pretty quickly. Can't really go wrong either way.
Old San Juan is not very much fun to climb though. I was surprised to see them climbing it in the vid above.

I usually just throw in the dh from CR to the creek as part of a SJ-Viejo Tie-Chiquito shuttle. At least I did until Knuckles my shuttle buddy moved to Colorado
