Short term rental places OC

Hoping someone here maybe able to offer some wisdom or help please!

We are flying into California on the 6th of September and need somewhere to stay for about 8 weeks whilst we wait for our stuff to turn up from ol' blighty and find a place to live longer term. Our criteria is pretty simple, clean, two beds and furnished.

We are looking either Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch / Rancho Santa Margerita sort of area as a work colleague lives in Portola Hills and I can bum rides to the office of him or near the office which is on Anton Boulevard near South Coast Plaza.

I've tried craigslist, Airbnb and HomeAway.com and found some possibilities. Got a couple of apartment places that I'm trying to get in touch with for availability as well.

Just wondering if anyone here had any other suggestions of websites / places to look?

Edit: Budget wise - extended stay america is quoting nearly $9000 for 8 weeks.

Furnished isn't all that common around here.
Oakwood used to always be the place newly divorced people went that was furnished.
I did a couple of minutes of googling, this one might work.
Seems you have to call most places to get real info

Thanks @Rumpled, we actually tried those guys the other day. They're only offer a minimum let of 3 months unfortunately.

I'm starting to think the easiest might be to find places on Airbnb and move around a bit. Might be a good way to try different areas to live until we find one we like and find a long term rental.

We've finally managed to find a place for our first month on Airbnb. Unfortunately any dirt riding will mean throwing the bike in the back of the hire car and going for a drive first but I'm consoling myself with the fact there is three craft breweries within easy walking/stumbling distance of the place and I will be able to walk or ride into the office.

Will find a place nearer dirt for the next place :)

I missed this thread when you posted... I don't have much experience, but when we made the cross country move, we stayed at Villas Antonio in RSM for a couple months until we found our own place. It was fully furnished, and pretty close to trails and a 241 entrance. That was a while ago...

Left Coast for the win!

RSM = Rancho Santa Margarita? Thats one of the places we are considering longer term. Others on the list at the moment are Foothill Ranch, Portola Hills, Mission Viejo or Aliso Viejo.

Yes...

All nice areas, and all pretty close to trails and transportation corridors.

I chose my location in Mission Viejo ( right next to foothill ranch) because of it's proximity to dirt trails. Can ride to whiting or the luge from the house without much pavement. All along this area it's quite nice and safe, even if they are bedroom communities.
