Server Crash Today...

Guys,
We experienced a Server Crash today at GoDaddy.com.
As a result of this, based on the number of hits imtbtrails gets a day, they have asked imtbtrails to move to a different server. I will be moving it over the next 30 days.

There should be no disruption to access. But if there is it will be because of that. please be patient.
Growing pains are a great problem to have!

Oh, and I have added more smilies for your obnoxious pleasure...just click on the "View more smilies" link under the existing smilies.

Yeah, I have heard. I was told the same thing by a buddy that has a So Cal Soccer Forum.
Do you do the move yourself? We need to talk!

Thanks!
Mikie

I have had to change service providers a number of times.

One earlier time, I paid to have a pro at the new host move my site for me. It worked out ok, but I wouldn't do it again. The problem is that they are so careful not to delete or reconfigure anything, that you end up with a lot of legacy software and old files intermingled with newer content.

Changing hosts is a great time to start over from scratch with new software, new add-ins and mods, etc. Now I set up the new server first, install everything, and test it with a copy of the old site database. When everything works exactly the way I want, I turn off the old site, bring the final copy of the database over (with all up to date content) and then redirect my URL to the new host. Users normally experience a very short down-time, and if you communicate the change ahead of time, they are usually very understanding.
