Saturday Strawberry Surprise??

Gonna ride my favorite trail on Saturday. Strawberry Peak is a real gem and I can't wait to ride it again. Sorry Doug but this one will be an early start. Lets see who's interested and then I can post up some details on where to meet and when. :D

Don't know yet. Let's see who's interested. If no one is coming from Frazier Park or Mojave or Bakersfield then I would like to start fishing early!

rossage, What's the Stats for his ride?
Miles? Elevation? Time?
I would like to do it, just need to figure out if I can...

I may be working also, I have friend who rosd SP on Saturday, I asked him about the Poodle Dog Plague, and aparrently it's still pretty thick up there, he said he wasn't sure what it looked like, but noted that there sure were alot of pretty purple flowers all around. He called me today and said it is migrating around on his body in places the bush never touched his body, one place is his eye, he also said he just doesn't feel right, I'm not sure if that is a symptom?

Mikie: stats tomorrow
BBJ: time is depending upon who is gonna show.
Doug: I have ridden and done trail work up there several times recently and any PDB is easily avoided. Thepurple flowers were probably lupine- prettty but harmless. The symptoms usually take longer to show up and can be more severe than PO. Due to superior genetics I am not suceptible.

The mileage is only about 14 or so. About 2000-2500 ft climbing. An early start is necessary to avoid parking lot shenanigans at Switzers. If we start later I suggest that we start from Red Box. This would be the same route, just rotated 1/4 turn counter clockwise. If that makes sense
Ride time would be about 3-4 hours, less if you haul ass!
The ride from Switzers would be about 4 miles of access road/fireroad climb followed by 4-5 miles of sweet, tchenical, XC singletrack. After dropping into Red Box, we would then drop another 4 miles of sweet, technical, XC singletrack, back to our vehicles.
Lets do this! :D

Ran into some guys tonight on Brown/El P and was told there were a number of trees down on the Gab between Red Box and Switzers. They have been cut back so not an issue. Asked about the PDB they said it was fine on Strawberry, but a little rougher on the Gab section, but also totally avoidable.
My boss decided I needed a day off to ride so I’m in.
Who else and what time?

That's what I'm wondering. If the boys aint coming from the SCV then I want to get started early. Say 8:00 from the bottom of Switzers. If they are coming then we can push it to 9 but we might have parking issues then. What's up Mikie, Dougie, and Opie?

I'm gonna miss this ride. Wife's out of town and kids have soccer tournament all weekend, so I'm soccer dad again. Look forward to reading the ride report.

Nice! Lets say 8:30 so people have a little time to get up there.Parking can become a hassle any later, except for time machines.... :D

Meet here: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.summitpost.org/switzer-s-picnic-area/267364" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.summitpost.org/switzer-s-picnic-area/267364</a>
Scroll down for driving directions.

Water is available at Red Box during the ride but not around Strawberry peak-shouldn't be a problem.

Gonna be a good one!

I'm guessing based on availability of parking in the lower area and not up on ACH, correct?
8:30, perfect I can sleep till 8:10 and still make it. :D Sorry Mikie.

Yeah. If we park down below, we can end the ride on a downhill. :D I'm sure you know the paved climb out of Switzers is not a fun one!
Dont worry MIkie! This will be worth the early wake up call....trust me....heh heh heh. :?

No worries beaches, I take a licking and keep on ticking....
8:30 is not a problem for Mikie... 8-)

Just to be sure, we are meeting at Switzer Falls gate parking lot...right?

Mikie, there is a parking lot up on ACH at the sign, but there is a gate and a driveway just feet west of that area. Go past the gate down the hill to that parking lot. That fun little piece of asphalt you get to turn around and climb on the bike. You get warmed up real quick.

That is unless of course you want to repeat the SART climb out on MCR. :o
Btw your map is the right spot.
