Interesting reading for the geologically inclined. Or people interested in where we live and play.

:D

Dude. Los Angeles IS buried. Everyone in the LA Basin lives upon about 6,000 feet of alluvium that's been deposited over the past fifteen million years. In recent history, the flood of 1938 killed over 100 people in Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties. The Santa Ana River deposited six feet of debris over much of Orange County. Many of the mountain trails we ride today were established as access to sites that were abandoned after the flood.

So... let's all ride the mountains NOW, before nature washes them out into the ocean.
