Orange Chunkies

TWE. Are your grips an orange county thing? you're not alone with the goofy colored grips. I tried to like lock-ons but simply prefer foamies. It's been a long time but I think (mike or mikej??) discussed my bars from carver with a massive 29% sweep. Well if you stumble on this here's what they look like.

Hey, @mtnbikej, we been hybrid'ed! Pretty scary thought, that! :eek:

Enjoy your backsweep, @jimbowho. I'm envious :(:)

@TwoWheel Eric, no plug?

I didn't like the look of the ESI bar plugs and they have a protruding ring on them, so I am looking for a flat bar end..In the meantime, extended the foam out a bit to provide some protection. I guess I risk some damage to the bar/grips without some protection and maybe I should put the ESI ends back on. I've heard of bad injuries from landing on the bar end so skeptical of the protruding ring on the ESI. Suggestions?

Bar review & thread hijack. they flex :thumbsup: they look weard at first but grow on you real quick. Now for me anything else feels like pushing a lawn mower. Simple switchbacks where I'm just cruising I caught myself putting my leg to the outside much like a roadracer without leaning so the bar won't hit your leg. I've tried "on-one fleegle" not enough, Mary bars too much sweep. Now I have to get a 2nd pair of these for my hardtail. For those of us with tendonitis, carpal, alt bars can help. No affiliation. (Grip review) they're orange and make you feel like a poser.

Excellent input. TFPU!

I dig. Metallic orange on those plugs is pretty ugly, too. I did what you do, but with the plug in there. Pull the grip out a tad to hide that ugly sumbitch a little, and for a bit of added safety. I'm way more scared of carnage from an unplugged handlebar with a foam grip slightly protruding than that ugly plug stabbing me.

I once crashed without knee pads and got stabbed behind the knee with my ESI bar plug, and was lucky it wasn't worse. If there was no plug it definitely would have been worse. That foam just peels back, no linear rigidity there.

I thought this was a de-rail on the "Where are all the MTB Hotties" forum ...
LOL ...to each his – or her – own!

These are the extra chunky model so better for big hands. I really like them so far.

Nice! I gave mine to the big-handed weasel. We like em a lot, except we dump it often and the foam gets pretty cut up, and the plugs get haggard. Great comfort and light weight, tho.

Oury has the stoutest bar plugs I've ever seen, and the profile is super protective. You'd have to throw your bike off a cliff to even make a mark on the plug. Makes that ESI system look like kid toys. No crash, no matter.
