It's a good race.... I did it last year and had a ton of fun....then again, I ride out there several times a week, so it was kind of like racing on the home field turf.

Non Dot Adventures said:
NEW INFO for beginner racers: Due to the conditions of the trail, all beginners will go down Chutes Trail instead of Chutes Ridgeline. Chutes trail is typically known as the “climbing route” and will bypass some of the more technical sections of Chutes Ridgeline. All other classes will still go down Chutes Ridgeline. The rangers have asked us to do this for the safety of all our racers.

I am really familiar with Chutes Ridgeline. It's how I leave Oaks every time I ride there. I'm really bummed to see this, especially with me leaning to AM vs. XC, this would have been a place to make up some time over the XC racers.

I've never taken Chutes Trail down, but it likely isn't nearly as fun.

This is nothing new.....it is how they did the race last year.

When the previous promoter was doing the race, he allowed the choice. Since Non Dot took over, everyone goes down Chutes Ridgeline.

It is a a big difference in times.....Chutes Ridgeline is shorter/faster...but more techy. A fast rider could gain 1 minute on a slower rider taking the Ridgeline over the Trail.

Plus there are still places to pass on the Ridgeline trail.

I didn't do Oaks last year, so I only had what the website was telling me to go off of, shrug. Guess I'll see it in action on Saturday for the pre-ride!

Good race today. It looked like this had the biggest participation of the series so far.

Lining up at the start.

I placed 8th of 12 in my class today, but I felt really good about my ride. I didn't really leave much out there, I had some good descents, but I just am a slow climber (even in a race environment). While I'm sure I made up some time on the descents, that ~1m30s gap between me and 7th was a gap too far.

2s different between 2nd and 3rd!

It was good to see lots of familiar faces out there, from here I bumped into J and he pointed out Rox whom I introduced myself to (nice to meet you in person!).

Nice job!

I think you think you're slow... But I think you're getting a lot faster!

I am empirically getting faster (Strava tells me I am, which I love it for). I am still relatively slow to my competition and those who I ride with :) But riding with faster/better riders just makes me better (as long as they have the good nature to deal with the pauses I inflict :p)

Well for the most part....most of the racers looked like they were having a good time....except maybe those riders heading up Coachwhip the 2nd and 3rd time.

No carnage on Yucca....but a few guys came into the turn onto Coachwhip waaaayyyy too hot.

But it also looked like quite a few riders hit the dirt somewhere. Good to see a lot of familiar faces.

Congrats to those that raced.

I like the Non Dot races!
The one in Oaks is the most technically demanding of all of them.

I had a good first lap (43:43).
In the second lap the mother nature turned on the heat, I slowed down (48:25).
I probably could have gone a little faster on the second lap, but I wasn't racing anybody at that point.
I lost my visual look on the second place rider, and nobody was behind me. I ended up finishing 3rd in Clydesdale.

A good race any way you look at it.
At this point I'm shifting may focus on CC, but I'm looking froward to Casper's. I truly believe it wouldn't be as hot as the last two races.
