Lemme guess: Too short of chain stays renders the rear end relatively jarring...OR, OR, OR, the frame is missing a rear pivot and shock.

I really like the purple too, but I wouldn't be as cool showing up to a hardtail party with a modern, DH hardtail. I'm much more awesome when I ride a bike that ostensibly makes riding more difficult.

TFPU – it looks like a fun bike.

I'd be more into a scaled-down N9. I can imagine that costing more, but would be worth it for steel and sliders. I'm sure the YS's place in the Canfield line has been well considered.
