Anyone wants to come out and sample the new trails we just built let me know.
1) Panorama - 1.5 mile twisty 6" wide ST - pretty much XC style descent but fast with enough tech to make you grin a bunch. Finished this trail last night!
2) Rick o'Shay - 0.6 mile SuperD-type course. Starts at the highest point and slaloms up and down off the sides of a canyon
Want to say thanks to Rick and Mike O'Donnell, Tucker (C-Bone), Brach, Dennis Crissmore, Gus (he didn't know he was doing trail work last night - lol) and Austin plus a couple more, for helping with the trail work!
The existing stable:
-Coyote Canyon - 0.7 mile (up or down) ~600' elevation gain going up with embedded rocks, a few tricky ruts, and sandy patches
-JR Long ST - 1.5 miles parallelling the aqueduct. XC style but with some steep shor downs; 4-5 small kickers and a couple fast sections
-Roller Coaster - starts at the end of JR Long ST and is fast smooth up and down that dumps out to the aqueduct road
-Pin it and Superwash - fun downhill through a sandy wash. includes small gaps a couple BIG gaps, 2 wall rides and smaller kickers
-Weyless Ridge - 1.2 mile twisty moto-style ST with rocks, bumps, off cambers, (located between Coyote cnyn and Panorama)
-Klunker run - like a mini .4 mile G-out. then you can climb back up the ST to the start or up to Coyote Cnyon
-South Ridge - just a 2 mile ridgeline that makes you work hard either way you ride it but with some fast fun DH sections either way.
So it's not Tapia or AT but now it's possible to string together a nice loop or figure 8 with about 12 miles of ST and ~2miles of connecting fire road without hitting the same dirt twice. No big climbs but a few shortish biatches that will make you sweat. And if anyone wants to do an epic; can combine this as a finishing loop with the Mt McDill/Sierra Pelona climb/descend-fest for a truly evil exercise in self flagellation - as many miles and as much elevation gain as is needed to suit your palate.
If we get another good rain this year we plan to build a couple more connecting trails to make a true loop with as little Fire road as possible. Volunteers will be welcome - I will announce with as much advance notice as possible.
