New to mountain biking

Newbie with Hope!
Hi all. Finally got into mountain biking after lurking for a while. Sorry in advance if my questions are redundant, I promise to learn how to search the site and all that before posting. Anyways, I am looking for suggestions where to take my first real ride. I look forward to riding with some of you.

Hey @MTB_noob Welcome to the site! Glad you posted up. Is ee you live in Baldwin Park which is close by to me in Duarte. I have a couple of suggestions for you. First, would be some spins at the Santa Fe Dam. There is some single track there believe it or not. Second would be Bonelli Park. There is a little bit of everything there from beginner to advanced. I would recommend doin some rides there before hitting the more difficult trails in the Angeles Forest such as Brown Mountain and El P. Hope to see you out on the trails one day!

Thanks @Cisco Roots . I literally live down the street from Santa fe dam and have been going through the bike route to the canyons to get my stamina up. Where is the track at there? Would love to get to it and will also look into bonelli park. Seriously excited to get out there

Welcome Bud!
We'll be changing that screen name in no time.
Get with @Cisco Roots. He's awesome and will take excellent care of you.
Keep the stoke, keep riding, and like @mike and @mtnbikej said... Stay connected here on imtbtrails. Welcome to the Crew!

Thanks @Mikie. Hopefully I can change it sooner rather than later lol. I know it's addicting and I can't wait

Welcome from behind the Orange Curtain... You ended up in the right place. Feel free to ask away! These guys and gals know their stuff, and I've never seen them bite the head off of a newb. Well, maybe that one guy... :whistling:

Fullerton loop is always great place to learn. Another great place to build up stamina/suffer is Carbon Canyon. If you can climb Gilman Peak/North Ridge a couple of times, then go back to the Loop, it will be much easier. Hard to get your heart stronger without doing some climbs...
Have a great time... soon you will become an mtbking addict...

Welcome. I am in West Covina and can ride with you to show you the ropes. We have bonelli and marshal canyon (San Dimas) relatively close. I feel that bonelli is great if all you want to do is climb big hills without tons of reward on the back side. It is also fairly intimidating due to some rocky descents and steep ones at that. Mashal is always a blast and relative flat for beginners but has some difficult sections. FLOOP (Fullerton loop) is a great spot for beginners so long as you respect it(I eat sh*t there all the time). Hit me up to ride.

Rob

My first two trail rides were bonelli and marshall cyn. I recommend marshall more, it's more scenic, more tree shades and the lower part is a pretty easy climb.
A little friendly warning: Cisco Roots is fast on the inclines and pretty fast on the downhill.
